Robert Moffat (politician)
Robert Moffat (March 5, 1844 – April 25, 1887) was a businessman and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Restigouche in the House of Commons of Canada as a Conservative member from 1883 to 1887. He was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick in 1844, the son of George Moffat, and was educated at the Academy at Annan in Scotland. Moffatt became a merchant in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. In 1876, he married Margaret Sadler. Dalhousie, New Brunswick
Dalhousie ( ) is a formerly incorporated town, located in Restigouche County, New Brunswick. New Brunswick's northernmost point of land is situated in Dalhousie, where the Restigouche River meets Chaleur Bay. On 1 January 2023, Dalhousie merged with the village of Charlo and several local service districts (LSDs) to form the new town of Heron Bay – French name ''Baie-des-Hérons''. Dalhousie remains in use by the province's 911 system. History Dalhousie is the shire town of Restigouche County and dates European settlement to 1800. Teeswater, Ontario
Teeswater is a community in the municipality of South Bruce, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. It is located 12 kilometres west of Mildmay, 16 kilometres north of Wingham on County Road 4, and 25 kilometres southeast of Ripley on Bruce Road 6. The population in 2016 was 995. History Teeswater is located on the Teeswater River, a tributary of the Saugeen River. Surveyors named the river after the River Tees in England and the settlement was named for the river. The post office dates from 1855. The first settlers, mainly English and Scottish, arrived in 1856. Teeswater was incorporated as a village in 1875 and remained a separate municipality until it was amalgamated with Culross Township to form the Township of Teeswater-Culross in 1998. Annan, Dumfries And Galloway
Annan ( ; gd, Inbhir Anainn) is a town and former royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland. George Moffat (1810-1878)
George Moffat (1810 – May 13, 1878) was a New Brunswick businessman and politician. He represented Restigouche in the House of Commons of Canada as a Conservative member from 1870 to 1877. He was born in Gretna Green, Dumfriesshire, Scotland in 1810 and came to New Brunswick in 1830. He became a lumber merchant in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. Moffat was elected to the House of Commons in an 1870 by-election after the death of William Murray Caldwell. He died in Dalhousie at the age of 68.
