Robert MacKenzie (darts Player)
Robert "Bob" MacKenzie is a Scottish former professional darts player who competed in the 1980s. Career McKenzie played in three successive World Professional Darts Championships but lost in the first round on all three occasions. In 1986, McKenzie was beaten 3-1 by John Lowe from England, in 1987, he lost 3–0 in Finland's Tapani Uitos and in 1988 he was defeated 3-2 by England's Dennis Hickling. Before his World Championship debut, McKenzie reached the second round of the 1984 Winmau World Masters, beating Raymond Rogers in round one before losing to Terry O'Dea. He was runner-up in the 1986 British Pentathlon behind John Lowe. "You're the Voice" is a song written by Andy Qunta, Keith Reid, Maggie Ryder and Chris Thompson, and recorded by the Australian singer John Farnham and released as a single in September 1986 ahead of his album ''Whispering Jack''. "You're the Voice" was one of the biggest hits of 1986 in Australia, topping the Kent Music Report singles chart for seven weeks from 3 November to 21 December. N.B. the Kent Report chart was licensed by ARIA between mid–1983 and 12 June 1988. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1987 it won Single of the Year. John Farnham
John Peter Farnham Officer of the Order of Australia, AO (born 1 July 1949) is a British born Australian singer. World Professional Darts Championship
The World Professional Darts Championship is one of the most important tournaments in the darts calendar. Originally held as an annual event between 1978 and 1993, players then broke off into two separate organisations after a controversial split in the game. Each organisation, the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) then arranged their own World Championships, the former in January the latter in December. As a result, there was no longer was an unified world champion in the sport for nearly three decades. The BDO version dated back to 1978, when it was held at the Heart of the Midlands nightclub, Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. John Lowe (darts Player)
John Lowe (born 21 July 1945) is an English former professional darts player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he was known for dominating darts during the 1980s. Lowe was world champion on three occasions, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a two-time winner of the Winmau World Masters and a two-time World Cup singles champion. In total, Lowe won 15 BDO and WDF majors. He held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to hit a televised nine-dart finish. Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championship three or more times, and was the first person to win it in three separate decades; along with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. Tapani Uitos (born 26 June 1953) is a Finnish former professional darts player who competed in the 1980s. Career A winner of the 1983 Finnish Open and 1985 BDO Nations Cup he competed in the 1985 BDO World Darts Championship but was defeated by Sweden's Stefan Lord in the first round. He returned to Lakeside in 1987 and beat Scotland's Robert MacKenzie but lost in the second round to Cliff Lazarenko. In 1988, Uitos lost in the first round to Northern Ireland's Fred McMullan. Dennis Hickling
Dennis or Denis is a first or last name from the Greco-Roman name Dionysius, via one of the Christian saints named Dionysius. Winmau World Masters
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. Terry O'Dea
Terence "Terry" O'Dea (3 May 1945 – 18 May 2021) was an Australian professional darts player who competed in the 1970s and 1980s. Darts career O'Dea rejoined of the BDO in March 1978. O'Dea played in ten successive BDO World Darts Championships with his best run coming in 1982 and 1986 where he reached the quarter-finals. O'Dea also played in four Winmau World Masters, World Masters tournaments, reaching the quarter-finals in 1984. He appeared on the UK television show Bullseye (UK game show), Bullseye presented by Jim Bowen in 1984 where he scored 300 points (in 9 darts) for charity. He appeared two years later and scored 305.
