Robert Lowell Miller Jr. (born 1950) is a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Education and career Miller was born in South Bend, Indiana. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University in 1972. He received a Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1975. He was a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana in 1975. He was a judge of the St. Joseph County Superior Court in South Bend from 1975 to 1985. Federal judicial service Miller was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on October 23, 1985, to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court Of Review
The United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review (FISCR) is a U.S. federal court whose sole purpose is to review denials of applications for electronic surveillance warrants (called FISA warrants) by the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (or FISC). The FISCR was established by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (known as FISA for short) and consists of a panel of three judges. Like the FISC, the FISCR is not an adversarial court; rather, the only party to the court is the federal government, although other parties may submit briefs as ''amici curiae'' if they are made aware of the proceedings. Papers are filed and proceedings are held in secret. John Glover Roberts Jr. (born January 27, 1955) is an American lawyer and jurist who has served as the 17th chief justice of the United States since 2005. Roberts has authored the majority opinion in several landmark cases, including ''National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius,'' '' Shelby County v. Holder'', and '' Riley v. California''. He has been described as having a conservative judicial philosophy but, above all, is an institutionalist.
