Robert E. Wade
Robert E. Wade (August 25, 1933 – May 4, 2023) was a Canadian politician who served as the 53rd mayor of Hamilton, Ontario, from 2000 to 2003. Wade moved to Ancaster from London, Ontario, in 1960 after his employer London Life Insurance Company transferred him. He was first elected to the Ancaster Town Council in 1978, and served for 22 years, including 16 as the mayor. Bob Morrow
Robert Maxwell Morrow (August 9, 1946 – February 4, 2018) was a Canadian politician who served as 52nd mayor of Hamilton from 1982 to 2000. He was the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. Political career Born in Hamilton, Morrow first won election in 1968 as alderman for Ward One. However, he was disqualified because his name was not on the voter's list. In a subsequent by-election, his father, George Morrow, secured the seat. Morrow ran again in 1970, winning without legal difficulty. In 1972, he won a seat on the Board of Control, a body that was elected citywide. In the following three elections, he placed first in the multi-candidate race, automatically becoming deputy mayor. When the board was abolished in 1980, Morrow temporarily left municipal politics. Larry Di Ianni (born Renzo Pasquale Di Ianni, 1948) is an Italian-Canadian politician and educator who served as the 54th mayor of Hamilton from 2003 to 2006. Prior to his tenure as mayor, he served as a town councillor in Stoney Creek and a city councillor in the amalgamated City of Hamilton. Early life Di Ianni immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1956 as a boy. Ancaster is a historic town in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, located on the Niagara Escarpment. Ann Sloat
Frances Sloat (née O'Rourke; July 28, 1928 – November 21, 2017) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. She was the mayor of Ancaster from 1973 to 1984, and the Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1984 to 1985. She was elected in a by-election in December 1984, but was defeated six months later in the 1985 provincial election. During her time as MPP the legislature was not in session. Background Frances Sloat, nicknamed "Ann", was born in Stratford, Ontario, and was educated in that city and Hamilton. She graduated from Hamilton General Hospital, School of Nursing in 1951.
