Brian Dickson
Robert George Brian Dickson (May 25, 1916 – October 17, 1998) was a Canadian lawyer, military officer and judge. He was appointed a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada on March 26, 1973, and subsequently appointed the 15th Chief Justice of Canada on April 18, 1984. He retired on June 30, 1990. Dickson's tenure as chief justice coincided with the first wave of cases under the new ''Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms'' which reached the Supreme Court from 1984 onwards. Dickson wrote several very influential judgments dealing with the ''Charter'' and laid the groundwork for the approach that the courts would take to the ''Charter''. Robert Temple Dickson III (29 October 1934 – 29 November 2006) was an American politician from Texas. Robert Temple Dickson III was born to parents Mary Isabel and Robert Temple Dickson II on 29 October 1934. At the time, the family lived in Seymour, Texas, and later moved to Sweetwater. Dickson III attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law. A year before the couple married, Dickson's wife Kathy survived the sinking of the SS ''Andrea Doria''. Outside of politics, Dickson was a rancher and practiced law. Robert Temple Dickson II (12 September 1909 – 2 December 1950) was an American politician from Texas. Robert Temple Dickson was born on 12 September 1909 and named after his father. He lived in Sweetwater, Texas. Dickson served in the Texas House of Representatives as a Democratic legislator for District 117 from 1939 to 1941. He resigned the seat during the first year of his second term in office to enlist in the United States Navy. After serving in World War II, Dickson returned to Texas, and by January 1945, had been named deputy county clerk in the probate court system of Tarrant County. Sir Robert Dickson (died October 1711), first holder of the baronetcy of Dickson of Sornbeg, was an MP of the Parliament of Scotland for the constituency of Edinburghshire from 1702 to 1707, who voted for the Union. He was the son of Alexander Dickson of Tourlands. He was created a baronet of Nova Scotia on 28 February 1695 when he was described as being of Sornbeg in Galston, Ayrshire, but later acquired a large estate in Inveresk. He was succeeded as second baronet by his son Robert (1694–1760) whose only son predeceased him, so the title presumably became extinct on his death. Robert B. Dickson (born January 25, 1944) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Amateur career Dickson was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was introduced to golf at the age of five by his father, Ben, a club pro/manager at the McAlester Country Club, and later club pro at the Muskogee Country Club (1958–1978). He attended high school in Muskogee, and was the state 2A golf champion for three years. Dickson attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he was a two-time All-American as a member of the golf team from 1964–1966. Robert Dickson (c.1765 – 20 June 1823) was a fur trader, and later an officer in the British Indian Department in Upper Canada, who played a prominent part in the War of 1812. Early life He was born in Dumfries, Scotland where his father was a merchant. When his father's business failed, Robert and his brothers, William Dickson (Upper Canada), William and Thomas Dickson (Upper Canada politician), Thomas, traveled to Canada to work for their cousin Robert Hamilton (judge), Robert Hamilton.
