Robert Temple Dickson II
Robert Temple Dickson II (12 September 1909 – 2 December 1950) was an American politician from Texas. Robert Temple Dickson was born on 12 September 1909 and named after his father. He lived in Sweetwater, Texas. Dickson served in the Texas House of Representatives as a Democratic legislator for District 117 from 1939 to 1941. He resigned the seat during the first year of his second term in office to enlist in the United States Navy. After serving in World War II, Dickson returned to Texas, and by January 1945, had been named deputy county clerk in the probate court system of Tarrant County. Sweetwater, Texas
Sweetwater is a municipality in and the seat of Nolan County, Texas, United States. It is 123 miles southeast of Lubbock and 40 miles west of Abilene, Texas. Its population was 10,906 at the 2010 census. History The town's name "Sweetwater" is the English translation of the Kiowa language word "Mobeetie". Sweetwater received a U.S. post office in 1879. The Texas and Pacific Railway started service in 1881, with the first train arriving on March 12 of that year, beginning Sweetwater's long history as a railroad town. To encourage the railroads, Sweetwater increased its water supply by building a small town lake called City Lake in 1898 (now called Newman Park), then three larger lakes were constructed thereafter. Construction began on the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway in 1903. Robert Temple Dickson III (29 October 1934 – 29 November 2006) was an American politician from Texas. Robert Temple Dickson III was born to parents Mary Isabel and Robert Temple Dickson II on 29 October 1934. At the time, the family lived in Seymour, Texas, and later moved to Sweetwater. Dickson III attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law.
