Robert De Nervo
Baron Robert de Nervo (3 September 1842 – 24 August 1909) was a French industrialist involved in mining, steelmaking and railways. Early years Robert de Nervo was born on 3 September 1842 in Paris, France. His parents were Gonsalve Jean Baptiste Rosario, baron de Nervo (1804–97), and Adélaïde Marie Suzanne Brugière de Barante (1813–86). Robert de Nervo became an administrator of the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM) railway network. On 31 October 1867 he married Lucie-Agathe Talabot (1844–73). She was the daughter of Léon Talabot and niece of Paulin Talabot, pioneers of the French railway industry and founders of the Nîmes-Beaucaire railway and the PLM network. The Saut-du-Tarn Steel Works (french: Société des Hauts-Fourneaux, forges et aciéries du Saut-du-Tarn) was a steel maker in Saint-Juéry, Tarn, France. It originated with Léon Talabot et Compagnie, founded by Léon Talabot in 1824. The factory specialized in manufacturing steel handtools such as files, scythes and sickles, but later moving into manufacture of machine tools. It closed in 1983 and was liquidated in 1984. Société Mokta El Hadid
The Société Mokta El Hadid was an iron ore mining company in Algeria, and later in other West African countries. From around 1865 until 1927 it was the largest mining company in Algeria, delivering ore of exceptional quality for processing in France. In 1878 the original Mokta El Hadid mine near Bône (now Annaba) was said to be capable of supporting 25% of Europe's steel production. Before this mine was exhausted the company opened additional mines in Algeria. The Société des mines et fonderies de Pontgibaud (Pontgibaud Mine & Foundry Company) was a French silver and lead mining and smelting company based in Pontgibaud, Puy-de-Dôme. Jacques de Nervo (31 August 1897 – 27 June 1990) was a French industrialist. He was born into a family of railway pioneers and steelmakers. After World War I (1914–18) he joined one of the family companies as a factory worker, and quickly became an executive. He was involved in various major steel enterprises before, during and after World War II (1939–45). He was responsible for the creation of Usinor, which became the largest French steel making group. Family and early years Jacques de Nervo was born on 31 August 1897, son of Baron Léon de Nervo and Germaine Davillier (1875–1949). He was the great grandson of Léon Talabot, one of the founders of the French railway industry. Robert Pinot (28 January 1862 – 24 February 1926) was a French sociologist from the conservative Le Playist school who became a highly effective lobbyist for heavy industry owners. He was the long-term secretary-general of the Comité des forges, an association of iron and steel manufacturers that was influential in setting industrial policy, particularly during World War I (1914–18). Early years Robert Pinot was born on 28 January 1862 in Boissy-Saint-Léger. He was admitted to the École des Mines in Paris in 1883, but left to join the Ministry of Finance.
