John Francis Dowling
John Francis Dowling (December 3, 1851 – September 25, 1926) was an Ontario physician and political figure. He represented Renfrew South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1883 to 1886 and from 1890 to 1894. He was born in Appleton, Lanark County, Canada West in 1851, the son of Irish immigrants. He studied at the University of Ottawa and McGill College where he obtained an MD CM degree in 1875. He set up practice in Eganville. In 1875, he married Elizabeth, the daughter of James Bonfield who had previously represented Renfrew South in the provincial assembly. Dowling's election in 1883 was appealed in 1883 and 1884; he won the by-elections that followed. Francis Robert Latchford
Francis Robert Latchford, QC (April 30, 1856 – August 13, 1938) was an Ontario lawyer, judge and political figure. He represented Renfrew South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1899 to 1904 as a Liberal member. He was born in Aylmer, Quebec, the son of James Culhane Latchford, an Irish immigrant, and studied at the University of Ottawa. Latchford was called to the bar in 1886. He was named King's Counsel in 1899. Latchford served as Commissioner of Public Works from 1899 to 1904 and Attorney General of Ontario from 1904 to 1905. He was named a judge in the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1908 and served until his death. Latchford was also an amateur conchologist specializing in fresh water molluscs. Robert Campbell (Canadian Politician)
Robert Campbell (March 20, 1818 – June 14, 1887) was a Scottish-born Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented Renfrew South in the House of Commons of Canada from 1882 to 1887 as a Liberal member. He was born in Glenurquhart, the son of Dugald Campbell, and came to Lochiel Township, Glengarry County, Upper Canada with his parents in 1820. Campbell entered the timber trade and was manager for John Egan on the Bonnechere River. In 1845, he married Elizabeth Lothian. He was named a justice of the peace and served on the municipal council for Eganville. Eganville is a community occupying a deep limestone valley carved at the Fifth Chute of the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Eganville lies within the township of Bonnechere Valley. Eganville is also known as the Ordovician Fossil Capital of Canada. There are many fossils to be found in this area from approximately 500 million years ago (in a time before dinosaurs) including coral, crinoids, trilobites, cephalopods, gastropods, pelecypods, stromatolites, and brachiopods. The Bonnechere Valley is also a gateway to some of north-eastern Ontario's most well-known tourist destinations, including the nearby Bonnechere Caves. The caves are located under a hill of limestone, said by geologists to have been the bottom of a tropical sea 500 million years ago.
