Robbio
Robbio is a city and ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 km southwest of Milan and about 45 km west of Pavia. It is part of Lomellina traditional region. Robbio borders the following municipalities: Borgolavezzaro, Castelnovetto, Confienza, Nicorvo, Palestro, Rosasco, Vespolate. History The area of Robbio was settled since Neolithic times. A Roman centre name ''Redobium'' is attested by Pliny the Elder.''Naturalis Historia'', XIX,9 Later it was a Lombard town and, later, a possession of the Catholic diocese of Vercelli. Around the 11th century it was acquired by the De Robbio family, who ruled it, together with the neighbouring area, until the 13th century, when it was contended between Vercelli and Pavia. Enzo Emanuele
Enzo Emanuele (born June 10, 1977) is an Italian clinical pathologist known for his interdisciplinary research in the field of biological psychology. He has studied the biochemical basis of romantic interpersonal attraction and identified the neurotrophin nerve growth factor (NGF) as a key biochemical mediator of falling in love. The implications of this research have been criticized in the popular press. In 2008, his genetic research, which showed an association between serotonin and dopamine receptor gene polymorphisms and certain love traits, was awarded with the International Zdenek Klein Award for Human Ethology from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Emanuele is also known for his studies on biomarkers of atherosclerosis. Silvio Piola
Silvio Piola (; 29 September 1913 – 4 October 1996) was an Italian footballer who played as a striker. He is known as a highly prominent figure in the history of Italian football due to several records he set, and he is regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, as well as one of the best Italian players of all time. Confienza
Confienza is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 km southwest of Milan and about 50 km northwest of Pavia. Confienza borders the following municipalities: Casalino, Granozzo con Monticello, Palestro, Robbio, Vespolate, Vinzaglio. History Confienza's name derives most likely from the Latin '' confluentia'', referring to a confluence of two rivers which have now changed their course.
