Robbie Venter
Robert Eben "Robbie" Venter (born 7 May 1960) is a South African businessman and former professional tennis player. Biography A left handed player from Boksburg, Venter is the son of South African businessman Bill Venter. Venter was a semi-finalist at the Wimbledon Juniors in 1978 and moved to the United States that year to take up a tennis scholarship at UCLA. He was a three-time All-American and captained the UCLA side which won the team title in the 1982 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships. After that triumph he became a tour professional and with former UCLA teammate Blaine Willenborg he was runner-up in the doubles at the 1982 U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships, a tournament on the Grand Prix circuit held in Indianapolis. His only singles appearance in the main draw of a grand slam tournament came at the 1983 Wimbledon Championships, where he lost in the first round to Rodney Harmon, in four sets. Boksburg
Boksburg is a city on the East Rand of Gauteng province of South Africa. Gold was discovered in Boksburg in 1887. Boksburg was named after the State Secretary of the South African Republic, W. Eduard Bok. The Main Reef Road linked Boksburg to all the other major mining towns on the Witwatersrand and the Angelo Hotel (1887) was used as a staging post. Boksburg is part of the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, that forms the local government of most of the East Rand. The Mining Commissioner Montague White built a large dam which, empty for years, was dubbed White's Folly until a flash flood in 1889 silenced detractors. The 150,000 square metre dam is now the Boksburg Lake, and is surrounded by lawns, trees, and terraces. ''The Pantagraph'' is a daily newspaper that serves Bloomington–Normal, Illinois, along with 60 communities and eight counties in the Central Illinois area. Its headquarters are in Bloomington and it is owned by Lee Enterprises. The name is derived from the Greek words "panta" and "grapho," which has a combined meaning of "write all things." Jeremy Bates (tennis)
Michael Jeremy Bates (born 19 June 1962) is a British former professional tennis player. He was ranked UK number 1 in 1987 and from 1989 to 1994. He reached a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP world ranking of 54 from 17 April 1995 to 23 April 1995. During his career he won two Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, The Championships, Wimbledon, Wimbledon in 1987 and the Australian Open in 1991, with tennis partner Jo Durie as well as one singles title and three men's doubles titles. Lee-on-the-Solent, often referred to as Lee-on-Solent, is a seaside district of the Borough of Gosport in Hampshire, England, about five miles (8 km) west of Portsmouth. Miguel Mir Rodon (born 18 April 1956) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Career Mir made his first Grand Slam appearance at the 1975 French Open, where he was beaten in the opening round by Roger Taylor. He didn't return to the tournament until 1980, when he again made a first round exit, with Brian Gottfried winning in straight sets. A month later he played in the 1980 Wimbledon Championships and lost to Steve Krulevitz in the opening round.
