Robbie Gaffney
Robbie Gaffney (born 17 December 1957 in Dublin) is an Irish former association football, footballer. He signed for Shamrock Rovers F.C., Shamrock Rovers under Seán Thomas at the tail end of the 1975/76 season. He made a scoring Rovers debut at Oriel Park in a FAI League Cup tie. He made his League of Ireland debut for Shamrock Rovers at Flower Lodge against Albert Rovers F.C., Albert Rovers on 5 October 1976. He won the League of Ireland Cup and made 4 appearances in UEFA, European competition while at Glenmalure Park. He was an unused substitute in the 1978 FAI Cup Final. The League of Ireland Cup ( ga, Corn Sraithe na hÉireann), also referred to in Ireland as the 'League Cup', is an annual knockout competition in men's football in the Republic of Ireland. It is contested by League of Ireland clubs and invited clubs from the lower levels of the Republic of Ireland football league system. It has been sponsored by Electronic Arts and branded the EA Sports Cup since 2009. The competition began in 1973–74, replacing the League of Ireland Shield and the Dublin City Cup. Brian Kerr (Irish Football Manager)
Brian Kerr (born 3 March 1953) is an Irish football manager. Born in Dublin, Kerr grew up playing football and boxing. At the age of 13, he took his first coaching role with the Crumlin United under-11 side. Realising later that he didn't have the talent to become a top player, he decided to focus on coaching. In 1986, he was appointed manager of the League of Ireland side St Patrick's Athletic. In 1992, when the club was facing liquidation, Kerr was among the investors who raised IR£82,000 to help save the club. In December 1996, he left St Patrick's to become the technical director of the Football Association of Ireland. Kerr worked with the Republic of Ireland youth squads and also with the senior side. He was appointed as the full-time manager of the senior Ireland team on 26 January 2003. In 2007, Kerr became the Director of Football of St. Patrick's Athletic. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions.
