Rob Bucholz
Rob Arnold Bucholz (born August 16, 1961) is a Canadian curler. Bucholz has been a competitive curler in the Edmonton area since the 1980s. He skipped his own team until joining forces with Mark Johnson in 2004. That rink lost to Kevin Martin in the 2006 Alberta championship, the closest Bucholz has been from making it to the Brier. Bucholz has played in many World Curling Tour events. He won the Twin Anchors Invitational in 2002. Bucholz retired from competitive curling in 2008. However, he returned in 2011 to play with his sons, Landon and Bryce (and third Evan Asmussen) at the 2011 The Shoot-Out. They were without a skip, so Bucholz stepped in at the last minute, and led the team to the final where they lost to Randy Ferbey Randy S. Alberta

Saville Community Sports Centre
The Saville Community Sports Centre is a sports facility run by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, where it is located in Edmonton, Alberta. It features a curling rink, tennis courts and a gymnasium. Opened in 2003, the centre currently serves as the national training centre for curling in Canada. Its curling facilities include ten sheets, and is home to a membership of nearly 2000 curlers, making it the curling club with the largest membership list in the world. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Mark Johnson (curler)
Mark Johnson (born September 6, 1958, in Walla Walla, Washington) is an American-Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is a former World Senior Curling Champion. Career Johnson has curled competitively in both Canada and the United States. In the mid-2000s, he skipped one of the top teams in Alberta. In 2006, he lost to Kevin Martin in the provincial final. He was asked by Martin to play as the team's alternate at the 2006 Tim Hortons Brier, in which Johnson played two games. In 2009, Johnson skipped a Seattle-based team at the 2010 United States Olympic Curling Trials. The team placed 4–5. Kevin Martin (curler)
Kevin Martin (born July 31, 1966), nicknamed "The Old Bear" and "K-Mart", is a Canadian retired curler from Edmonton, Alberta, an Olympic, World and four-time Canadian champion and a member of the World Curling Hall of Fame. He is considered by many commentators and former and current curlers to be the greatest curler of all time. Boston Pizza Cup
The Boston Pizza Cup is the Alberta provincial championship for men's curling, run by Curling Alberta. The winner represents Team Alberta at the national men's championship, called the Tim Hortons Brier. Currently sponsored by restaurant chain Boston Pizza, under former sponsors, the championship was known as the Alberta Kia Cup and the Safeway Select. The Brier
The Tim Hortons Brier, or simply (and more commonly) the Brier (''french: Le Brier''), is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. The current event name refers to its main sponsor, the Tim Hortons coffee and donut shop chain. "Brier" originally referred to a brand of tobacco sold by the event's first sponsor, the Macdonald Tobacco Company. The Brier has been held since 1927, traditionally during the month of March. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. The Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic is an annual curling tournament on the men's and women's curling tour. It is held at the Vernon Curling Club in Vernon, British Columbia. It was a part of the World Curling Tour until 2019 when it was discontinued. It is held at the beginning of October, with the beginning of the bonspiel sometimes occurring in September. The 2011 The Shoot-Out, Shoot-Out was a curling bonspiel that was held from September 15 to 18 at the Saville Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alberta as part of the 2011–12 World Curling Tour. Randy Ferbey
Randy S. Ferbey (born May 30, 1959) is a Canadian retired curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Ferbey is a six-time Canadian champion and a four-time World Champion. He currently coaches the Rachel Homan women's team. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ferbey notably popularized the system of having the skip throw third rocks, when he skipped the team nicknamed "the Ferbey Four", a team with which he won four Briers (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005) and narrowly missed winning the 2004 final after giving up a 7–3 lead to Mark Dacey. Others teams in both men's and women's curling have adopted the system of not having the skip throw last stones, such as the Margaretha Sigfridsson rink, who would win winning an Olympic Silver and numerous World silvers and Europeans golds by skipping while throwing lead stones, and Jim Cotter throwing last rocks for John Morris who would together reach the finals of both 2014 Olympic Curling Trials and 2014 Brier.
