Roannais Agglomération
Roannais Agglomération is the ''communauté d'agglomération'', an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Roanne. It is located in the Loire department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, east-central France. It was created in January 2013 by the merger of the former ''Communauté d'agglomération Grand Roanne Agglomération'' with 4 former '' communautés de communes'' and 1 other commune. Its seat is in Roanne. Its area is 689.3 km2. Its population was 100,486 in 2017, of which 34,366 in Roanne proper.Comparateur de territoire

Roanne
Roanne (; frp, Rouana; oc, Roana) is a commune in the Loire department, central France. It is located northwest of Lyon on the river Loire. It has an important Museum, the ''Musée des Beaux-arts et d'Archéologie Joseph-Déchelette'' (French), with many Egyptian artifacts. Economy Roanne is known for gastronomy (largely because of the famous Troisgros family), textiles, agriculture and manufacturing tanks. Roanne station has rail connections to Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Étienne, Moulins and Lyon. History The toponymy is Gaulish, ''Rod-Onna'' ("flowing water") which became ''Rodumna'', then ''Rouhanne'' and ''Roanne''. The town was sited at a strategic point, the head of navigation on the Loire, below its narrow gorges. As a trans-shipping point, its importance declined with the collapse of long-distance trade after the fourth century. Renaison () is a commune in the Loire department of central France. Geography Renaison lies in the north-western part of the department of the Loire, 10 km west of Roanne in the canton of Renaison. The municipality covers the first foothills of la Madeleine, in the Roanne area. The Chartrain dam (or La Tache dam) and Rouchain dam are located on the territory of the commune.
