Evergreen Cemetery, or Evergreen Memorial Park is a cemetery in Riverside, California, United States. The first burial occurred in 1872, and the cemetery became the resting place of many historic figures of Riverside. History A portion of the current cemetery was originally set aside in 1870 when Riverside was platted. Riverside Cemetery is a historic cemetery located near Lowman, Chemung, Chemung County, New York. It was established in the 1790s, and contains graves dating from then to the present. Riverside Cemetery Chapel
Riverside Cemetery Chapel is a historic chapel located in Riverside Cemetery at 3607 Pearl Road in Cleveland, Ohio. It was built in 1876, received an addition in 1897, and closed due to disrepair in 1953. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It underwent a major renovation beginning in 1995, and reopened in 1998. Constructing the chapel The Riverside Cemetery Association was formed on November 15, 1875. About April 1876, the association's trustees hired the Cleveland architectural firm of Bruch & Monks to design a chapel for the cemetery. The chapel was to be erected at the center of the northern upper plateau of the cemetery, which was the first area to be developed for burials. A long road, called Chapel Avenue, led east from the chapel to the cemetery's eastern boundary. A fountain (never built) was to anchor the eastern end of the road. Park Lawn Cemetery
Park Lawn Cemetery is a large cemetery in the Etobicoke district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It currently has around 22,000 graves. It is managed by the Park Lawn Limited Partnership, which also runs five other cemeteries in Toronto. The cemetery offers ground burials and a mausoleum for above-ground interment and cremation urns. It is located south of Bloor Street, west of the Humber River. Park Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum opened in 1892 as Humbervale Cemetery and was owned by local farmers in the area. It was sold in 1912 and again in 1915 to Park Lawn Cemetery Company, and was renamed to the current name. In 1999, Park Lawn opened Paradise Mausoleum; phase two of Paradise Mausoleum was completed in 2007. Riverside Cemetery is a cemetery in Withee, Wisconsin. It is located on the corner of French Town Road and Highway X. History Riverside Cemetery is located 1-1/2 miles west of Withee and was platted on March 11, 1904 by C.S. Stockwell, surveyor. Most headstones were brought to Withee via train and moved by horse and wagon to the cemetery. Several individuals were moved from Longwood Cemetery and reburied in Riverside. Riverside Cemetery is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Founding and expansion of cemetery On March 6, 1855, the city of Oshkosh purchased a land parcel from Maria Grignon for creation of a cemetery. The parcel was located on the east bank of the Fox River and was named Riverside Cemetery. It was built as a replacement for the Locust Grove Cemetery, which was the first burial ground in Oshkosh and built in 1848. Between 1855 and 1869, the remains of those buried in Locust Grove were moved to Riverside Cemetery. In 1855, the Riverside Catholic cemetery was laid out north of the cemetery and expanded further in 1875. In 1868, a parcel was purchased east of the Riverside Cemetery by Masons. Riverside Cemetery (Jackson, Tennessee)
Riverside Cemetery is a cemetery located in Jackson, Tennessee. It is located few blocks south of the Madison County Courthouse, separated from Riverside Drive by a five-foot-high red brick wall. The City of Jackson established Riverside Cemetery in 1824 to replace the original municipal graveyard founded a few years earlier. Most remains from the earlier cemetery were reinterred at Riverside, either when it opened or in 1871–72. The oldest legible marker is for Mary Jane Butler (died 1824). Riverside Cemetery holds approximately 4,000 graves, but only 3,000 markers remain. It is estimated that there are 200 unmarked burials, including approximately 100 Confederate soldiers who died during the war, plus slaves buried prior to 1865. Riverside Cemetery (Pawtucket, Rhode Island)
Riverside Cemetery is an historic cemetery at 752 Pleasant Street in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It occupies a parcel of land about in size between Pleasant Street and the Seekonk River, and just north of the much larger Swan Point Cemetery in neighboring Providence. The cemetery was established in 1874, and is Pawtucket's instance of a rural cemetery. The cemetery's creation was championed by John W. Davis (1826–1907), a local politician who later served two terms as Governor of Rhode Island, and was for many years the cemetery's resident manager, living in the cemetery manager's house, which was built around the time of the cemetery's founding. Davis himself is buried there and the cemetery has been run by his descendants. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Riverside Cemetery (Asheville, North Carolina)
The Montford Area Historic District is a mainly residential neighborhood in Asheville, North Carolina that is included in the National Register of Historic Places. History According to the National Park Service the origin of the name Montford is unknown. In 1893 Montford was incorporated as an autonomous village to the north of Asheville. This was a tiny community of about 50 people, mainly local businessman and their families. In 1889 the Asheville Loan, Construction, and Improvement Company, began to develop the neighborhood. The firm purchased and subdivided tracts of undeveloped land north of the Battery Park and sold lots. The enterprise languished until it was taken over by George Willis Pack, a lumber tycoon from the midwest who moved to Asheville in 1885. He is best known today as a philanthropist and benefactor of the Asheville Library and principal public square. He also donated land for Montford Park on the southern end of Montford Avenue.
