Rive-Sud (REM)
Brossard station (known as Rive-Sud during early development) is a Réseau express métropolitain (REM) station in the city of Brossard, Quebec, Canada. Located approximately south of the intersection of Autoroutes 10 and 30, in the uninhabited Y section of Brossard, the station is the only elevated station on the South Shore segment and is operated by CDPQ Infra; it serves as the southern terminus of the REM and the eastern-most subway stop in Canada. Brossard
Brossard (, , ) is a municipality in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada and is part of the Greater Montreal area. According to the 2021 census, Brossard's population was 91,525. It shares powers with the urban agglomeration of Longueuil and was a borough of the municipality of Longueuil from 2002 to 2006. Etymology According to the website of the city of Brossard, the municipality was named in honor of the Brossard family, who were among the first settlers to arrive in the area in the 17th century: "Brossard, a city whose name is derived from the French surname Brossard, means 'brushwood'. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Autoroute 10 (A-10) is an Autoroute of Quebec in Canada that links greater Montreal to key population centres in Montérégie and Estrie, including Brossard, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Granby, and Sherbrooke.
