Ritva Vepsä
Ritva Annikki Vepsä (12 February 1941, Helsinki – 30 July 2016) was a Finnish actress. In 1970 she received a Jussi Award as the Best Leading Actress for her appearances in a Jörn Donner film ''Sixtynine 69'' and a Risto Jarva film ''Ruusujen aika''. Vepsä was married to actor and director Yrjö Tähtelä 1960–79. Vepsä died on 30 July 2016, aged 75, at her home from lung cancer. Jussi Award
The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961. Jörn Donner
Jörn Johan Donner (5 February 1933 – 30 January 2020) was a Finnish writer, film director, actor, producer, politician and founder of Finnish Film Archive. Biography Born into the Donner family of German descent, Jörn Donner was the son of the linguist Kai Donner and the grandson of linguist and politician Otto Donner. He lived and worked for long periods in Sweden, and served as director of the Swedish Film Institute. In 1979, he was a member of the jury at the 29th Berlin International Film Festival. Internationally Jörn Donner was best known as the producer of Ingmar Bergman's film ''Fanny and Alexander'' (, 1982). In 1984 the movie won a total of four Academy Awards including the award for best foreign language film, making him to date the only Finn to receive an Oscar. Risto Jarva
Risto Antero Jarva (15 July 1934 – 16 December 1977) was a Finnish filmmaker. Jarva usually approached his long films and short documentary films from some social problem and from one or more possible ways to solve it. Such problems included the widespread use of cars, the position of women, city planning, pollution, the role of gossip magazines' journalists, and the Finnish society's remaining ideological divides. His 1967 film ''The Diary of a Worker'' was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival. He was a seven time Jussi Awards winner. Jarva worked as an artistic professor of the film from 1970 to 1975 and as the Helsinki Applied Arts and Industry College's senior teacher from 1975 to 1977. Lung cancer, also known as lung carcinoma (since about 98–99% of all lung cancers are carcinomas), is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in tissue (biology), tissues of the lung. ''Time of Roses'' ( fi, Ruusujen aika) is a 1969 Finnish science fiction film directed by Risto Jarva, about an innocent girl glamour model legend and a journalist trying to find out her true essence for a biography. The story is set in the year 2012. The script was written by Peter von Bagh, Jarva, and Jaakko Pakkasvirta. The girl was played by Ritva Vepsä and the muckraking journalist (transparently based on Veikko Ennala) taking a foray into idealism by Arto Tuominen. The film premiered 2 July 1969. An American indie film distributor and classic film restoration company Deaf Crocodile Films has acquired the North American distribution rights to the film in June 2022. ''Koeputkiaikuinen ja Simon enkelit'' (''The Test-tube Adult and Simo's Angels'') is a 1979 Finnish comedy film directed, written and starring Spede Pasanen, along with the typical comic-cast of Simo Salminen, Vesa-Matti Loiri, Tapio Hämäläinen and Olavi Ahonen. Similar to his debut film ''X-Paroni'', Pasanen portrays a dual-role. Because Spede struggled to find funding for his movies throughout the 1970s, the film is only his second feature to be filmed entirely in colour (also his third film over-all to be filmed in colour).
