Risto Asikainen
Risto Asikainen (born 20 August 1958, Nurmijärvi) is a Finnish record producer, songwriter and musician. He became known to the general public from the Finnish version of the reality television show "Popstars". In the show he appeared as a judge and also wrote and produced music for the Popstars bands. In Finland, Asikainen has worked behind numerous successful pop-artists and bands, such as Nylon Beat, S.E.S., Kaija Koo, Dingo, Arja Koriseva, Kari Tapio, Gimmel and Robin. Nurmijärvi
Nurmijärvi () is the most populated rural municipality of Finland, located north of the capital Helsinki. The neighboring municipalities of Nurmijärvi are Espoo, Vantaa, Tuusula, Hyvinkää and Vihti, and it is part of the Greater Helsinki. The population of the municipality is inhabitants. In recent decades, it has been one of the fastest growing municipalities in the Greater Helsinki and also in whole Finland in terms of population. Nylon Beat
Nylon Beat was a Finnish girl group consisting of Jonna Kosonen and Erin Koivisto (later known as Erin during her solo career). Their main period of popularity was during the late 1990s and early 2000s. History The band was formed in 1995 as a result of the TV show "Kiitorata" ('runway' in English). At that time, both girls were only 18 years old. They started with backup tracks and dancers. Later their music matured somewhat and finally they performed fully live with a band of professional musicians. Kaija Koo
Kaija Kokkola (born 10 September 1962), better known by her stage name Kaija Koo, is a Finnish singer. Kokkola began her career when she was 17 years old, as a member of a band Steel City, later known as Kaija Koo Band, until it broke up and Kaija Koo became a solo artist. Her debut solo album ''Kun savukkeet on loppuneet'' was released in 1986. The next album ''Tuulten viemää'', created with her then-husband Markku Impiö and released in 1993, was Kaija Koo's major breakthrough. Dingo (band)
Dingo is a Finnish rock band formed around 1982. They fused Finnish melancholy with catchy rock melodies. The band was led by the frontman Pertti Neumann (also known as Pertti Nieminen). For a few years of top success, Dingo was one of the most popular Finnish rock bands and caused a phenomenon called "Dingomania" all over Finland. Dingo's hit number one was called "Autiotalo", released also in English as "The House without a Name". A separate youth culture was formed in Finland, known as the Dingoes. The success, however, lasted only for a couple of years and Dingo broke up in October 1986. The band regrouped in 1998 and continues to perform occasionally. Arja Koriseva (born 21 April 1965) is a Finnish singer. She first came to fame as a tango singer; her repertoire now includes evergreen, pop, musical theatre, and sacred music. Koriseva has sold over 330,000 certified records, making her the seventh best-selling female soloist in Finland. Kari Tapio
Kari Tapani Jalkanen (22 November 1945 – 7 December 2010), better known by his stage name Kari Tapio, was a Finnish schlager and country & western singer. During his career, he was one of the most popular singers in Finland for decades; having sold over 830,000 certified records (during his career and posthumously), he is the best-selling soloist in the country. Kari Tapio was born in Suonenjoki, Finland. In the 1960s he performed in his home town Pieksämäki with the local bands ER-Quartet and Jami & The Noisemakers. Gimmel were a Finnish girl group. In the spring of 2002, a ''Popstars'' competition was held in Finland to find members to form a pop band. 454 young women participated in the singing trials. 25 girls made it to the final selection round. Members of the first Popstars band in Finland were Jenni Vartiainen, Susanna Korvala, Ushma Karnani, and Jonna Pirinen.
