Ripe Banana Skins
Ripe Banana Skins (also known as RBS) is a Ska punk band from Asunción, Paraguay. The band was formed in 1999 and are one of the most popular punk bands in Paraguay. History The band was the result of the merge of two other bands: "Toilet Flush" and "Fugu". The band's first name was "Blackfly In Your Soup" but once they established their sound they changed the name to Ripe Banana Skins. The band recorded a few demos and quickly gained fans as a result of touring and being the opening act of the very popular Paraguayan rock band Flou. This allowed the band to tour extensively through Paraguay and also in Brazil and Argentina. In November 2003 the band began recording their first self-titled album which quickly rose up the charts when released in 2005. RBS also participated in the popular Paraguayan rock festival "Quilmes Rock", playing in front of more than 40,000 people. The band is currently working on their third album. Asunción
Asunción (, , , Guarani: Paraguay) is the capital and the largest city of Paraguay. The city stands on the eastern bank of the Paraguay River, almost at the confluence of this river with the Pilcomayo River. Ska Punk
Ska punk (also spelled ska-punk) is a fusion genre that mixes ska music and punk rock music together. (sometimes spelled skacore) is a subgenre of ska punk that mixes ska with hardcore punk. Early ska punk mixed both 2 tone and ska with hardcore punk. Ska punk tends to feature brass instruments, especially horns such as trumpets, trombones and woodwind instruments like saxophones, making the genre distinct from other forms of punk rock. It is closely tied to third wave ska which reached its zenith in the mid-1990s. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Flou
Flou is an alternative rock/nu metal band from Asunción, Paraguay, created in 1997. They are one of the most popular and successful rock bands from Paraguay. History The band was formed in 1997 by a group of friends; throughout the years the band went through several changes in line-up and music style that culminated in the year 2000 with the shaping and establishment of the original band. In 2001 the band released its first Demo (music), demo titled "Despetar" (Awakening) with five songs. The public's response was immediate, as the demo sold out immediately. This success led the band to sign with one of the biggest Paraguayan record labels, Kamikaze Records. In 2003 the band recorded and released its first album, ''Ataraxia''. This album was a success and by the end of the year Flou was chosen as the "Best Paraguayan band of the year" by the Rock & Pop FM radio station. Quilmes Rock
Quilmes Rock is a major Argentine rock festival, held annually from 2002 to 2004, and from 2007 on. It is named after its main sponsor, Cerveza Quilmes brewery. It was held in several venues in Buenos Aires, including the Ferro Stadium and River Plate Stadium. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings.
