Riksväg 1
Riksväg 1 was 1945 to 1962 the trunk road between Helsingborg and Stockholm. Its importance as a trunk road have nowadays been replaced by the international E-road network E4 which partly runs in parallel with ''Riksväg 1''. In 1960 the complete distance of ''Riksväg 1'' was 588 kilometers, while the corresponding distance of the E4 today is 561 kilometers. The older parts of the road between Markaryd and Vaggeryd is nowadays advertised as the scenic and tourist route ''Riksettan''. The northernmost parts between Södertälje and Stockholm was also called '' Södertäljevägen''. Through Salem Municipality and past the lake Bornsjön it is now called Bergaholmsvägen. An older stretch south of Stockholm was Göta highway, which still partly exist. Södertälje
Södertälje ( , ) is a Urban areas in Sweden, city in Södermanland and Stockholm County, Sweden and seat of Södertälje Municipality. As of 2017, it has 72,704 inhabitants. Göta Highway
Göta highway ( sv, Göta landsväg) was, up to the late-17th century, the only road between Stockholm and south of Sweden. Dating back at least to the middle ages, and some parts even back to the Viking Age, the highway is the oldest known road from Stockholm to the south. Göta highway lost importance after the year 1670, when the new highway via Hornstull came in use. Göta highway started in the centre of Stockholm at the Old Castle of Stockholm in Gamla Stan and led through Södermalm (here, the street is now named Götgatan) and the south suburbs of the city via the present-day Huddinge Municipality, Botkyrka Municipality and Salem Municipality to the city of Södertälje, and then further on to Götaland, one of the three lands of Sweden. Bornsjön
Bornsjön is a lake at Södertörn in Salem Municipality in Södermanland, Sweden. It is part of Norrström's main catchment area. The lake is 17 metres deep, has an area of , and is 11 metres above sea level. Salem Municipality
Salem Municipality (''Salems kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. The name traces its origins from ''Slæm'' in the 13th century, but was changed to Salem in the 17th century, inspired by the Biblical name of Jerusalem. Its seat is located in Salem. Riksettan
Riksettan or Turistväg Riksettan is the name of a scenic route that goes from Vaggeryd in the north, through Värnamo, Ljungby, Markaryd, and ends in Örkelljunga in the south. The route is part of the classic national road ''Riksväg 1'' and goes parallel with the E4 and the river Lagan. The route is primarily intended for tourists as a more scenic and cultural alternative to the highway. The road is suitable for both cars, motorcycles and bicycles.
