Riksteatret (English: National Traveling Theater) is a Norwegian touring theatre. It was established by law in 1948. Its first performance was in Kirkenes in 1949, with Sigurd Christiansen's play ''En reise i natten''. The theatre plays on about 200 different stages throughout the country. Its first theatre director was Fritz von der Lippe, who held this position from 1949 to 1968. Theatre
Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. Kirkenes
Kirkenes (; ; Skolt Sami: ''Ǩeârkknjargg;'' fi, Kirkkoniemi; ; russian: Киркенес) is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, in the far northeastern part of Norway. The town lies on a peninsula along the Bøkfjorden, an arm of the large Varangerfjorden. The main church for Kirkenes is Kirkenes Church, located in the Haganes, Finnmark, Haganes area of the town. Sigurd Christiansen
Sigurd Christiansen (17 November 1891 – 23 October 1947) was a Norwegian novelist and playwright. He made his literary debut with the novel ''Seieren'' in 1915. His literary breakthrough was the trilogy ''Indgangen'' (1925), ''Sverdene'' (1927) and ''Riket'' (1929). His novel '' To levende og en død'' (1931) won first prize in a competition, and was later made into three films: Norwegian, Czechoslovak and British-Swedish. Fritz Von Der Lippe
Frits von der Lippe (1 June 1901 – 5 September 1988) was a Norwegian journalist and theater critic. He served as Director of Riksteatret in Oslo from 1949–1968. Biography Von der Lippe was born in Bergen, Norway. His parents were Jakob von der Lippe (1870–1954) and Hanna Castberg (1872–1926). His brother Jens von der Lippe (1911–1990) was a ceramist, non-fiction writer and educator. He grew up in Kristiania (now Oslo) where he took his examen artium in 1919. He worked the next year as a teacher at Boen near Kristiansand. He then started as a career in journalism. He was employed at ''Tidens Tegn'' from 1920–21 and then at '' Morgenposten'' where he was a theater critic until 1930. From 1930 to 1949, he worked as Deputy Secretary for Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Ellen Horn
Ellen Horn (born Ellen Stoesen, 1 February 1951) is a Norwegian actress, theatre director, and politician for the Labour Party.Rossiné Career Horn started as a puppet actor at Oslo Nye Teater (1969–70), and was educated at the Teaterhøyskolen (1972–75), and since the late 1980s has been one of the most central and prominent figures in Norwegian theater. As an actress, she has distinguished herself by her versatility; as director at the Nationaltheatret (1992-2000), she managed to turn a money-losing company with a highly turbulent business culture into a thriving theater both financially and artistically. Horn has been an associate of Norsk Rikskringkasting and Nationaltheatret, and is currently director of Riksteatret. Touring Theatre
Touring theatre is independent travelling theatre that is presented at a different location in each city. A touring theatre is produced by a theater company, called the producing entity, often based in one location, and sold, as a show, by a booking agent to presenters. The presenters are responsible for arranging the venue, local crew, and any other considerations needed and specified in the rider. The presenter pays a set amount of money to the producing entity, and the producing entity then pays the traveling crew by check or direct deposit. The show could be in for one performance on one day, or for a "sit" of a week or longer. Extended engagements can last six weeks or more. Operation The contract between the presenter and the producing entity often includes stipulations on ''force majeure'', labor actions, and schedule of compensations and when each payment is due.
