Rietz-Neuendorf
Rietz-Neuendorf is a municipality in the Oder-Spree district, in Brandenburg, Germany Nearby are the Dubrower Berge a range of wooded hills popular with hikers and cyclists. Climate The city experiences a degraded oceanic climate, common in the border of Germany-Poland (Köppen: ''Cfb''). But due to its location to the east and interior (much more than most German cities), the climate is semicontinental, approaching ''Dfb'', characterized for this using old normals and 0 °C isotherm. The climate is similar with the south coast of Massachusetts (not island) where the strong continental influence is moderated by the sea, but still possessing extremes (hot summers but not above the pleasant threshold and cold winters with several days below zero but without the Arctic outbreaks). Oder-Spree
Oder-Spree is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the eastern part of Brandenburg, Germany. Neighboring are (from north clockwise) the district Märkisch-Oderland, the district-free city Frankfurt (Oder), Poland, the districts Spree-Neiße and Dahme-Spreewald, and the ''Bundesland'' Berlin. Geography The district is named after the two major rivers in the district - the Spree river forms a large bend within the district; the Oder river constitutes the eastern border. Dubrower Berge
The Dubrower Berge are an ice age range of hills (end moraines) in the German state of Brandenburg. They lie about six kilometres southeast of Fürstenwalde/Spree in the county of Oder-Spree in the triangle between the villages of Langewahl, Alt Golm in the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf and Neu Golm in the municipality of Bad Saarow. The name is derived from the Slavic language, Slavic ''dub'' which means oak. The Dubrower Berge are easy to reach from Berlin or Frankfurt/Oder on the Bundesautobahn 12, A12 autobahn, just 2 kilometres to the north. A transmission tower has been erected at their highest point, 150 metres above Normalnull, sea level (NN). The extensive stands of woods and variety of landscapes in the Dubrower Berge and surrounding area are used by hikers and cyclists. West Wind
A west wind is a wind that originates in the west and blows in an eastward direction. Mythology and Literature In European tradition, it has usually been considered the mildest and most favorable of the directional winds. In Greek mythology, Zephyrus was the personification of the west wind and the bringer of light spring and early summer breezes; his Roman equivalent was Favonius (hence the adjective ''favonian'', pertaining to the west wind).
