Richmond Athletic FC is a New Zealand football club, based in the South Island town of Richmond, Tasman, New Zealand. Their home ground is Jubilee Park. History Formed in 1948, Richmond Athletic changed its name to Richmond City in 2005. In 2006 they won the local league and entered the play-offs for promotion to the Mainland Premier League, beating both Burnside FC and Avon United on aggregate. They lasted only two years before being relegated from the division following an aggregate loss to Christchurch United in the play-off. Following their demotion they reverted to their original name of Richmond Athletic. Richmond Athletic again earned the right to a promotion play-off in 2010, losing on aggregate after a 4–2 1st leg home win, and an away loss of 3–0. Richmond (Māori: ''Waimea'') is a town and the seat of the Tasman District Council in New Zealand. It lies south of Nelson in the South Island, close to the southern extremity of Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere. The town, first settled by Europeans in 1842, was named in 1854 after the town of Richmond on Thames near London. The town has an estimated population of as of . Tasman District
Tasman District () is a local government district in the northwest of the South Island of New Zealand. It borders the Canterbury Region, West Coast Region, Marlborough Region and Nelson City. It is administered by the Tasman District Council, a unitary authority, which sits at Richmond, with community boards serving outlying communities in Motueka and Golden Bay / Mohua. Mainland Premier League
The Mainland Premier League is a league competition run by Mainland Football for association football clubs located in the northern half of the South Island, New Zealand. It is currently regarded by the New Zealand footballing community as the strongest football league in the South Island of New Zealand and features current and former New Zealand Football Championship players. The competition currently runs between March and August each year, and consists of seven teams based in Christchurch, and one team in Nelson. There are 21 rounds where teams play each other three times. The winner of the league qualifies for the South Island Championship, a one-off game against the winner of the FootballSouth Premier League, which is hosted by the two federations in alternate years. Burnside A.F.C. Was an association football club based in the suburb of Burnside in Christchurch, New Zealand. They merged with Avon United in 2011 to form FC Twenty 11. In 2007 it was the largest football club in the South Island. Club history Founded in 1967 as Burndale United (the name being a portmanteau of the suburb names Burnside and Bishopdale), the name was changed first to Burnside United and then simply to Burnside A.F.C. Avon United Football Club was a New Zealand amateur football club based in the city of Christchurch. The club was based in the western part of Christchurch and draw most of their players from Avonhead, Riccarton, Burnside, Fendalton, Ilam, Bryndwr and Hornby. The club rooms are situated at Riccarton Domain on Yaldhurst Road. Benjamin "Ben" Wright (born 1 July 1980) is an English Association football, footballer who is a player and co-coach of Nelson Suburbs. Che Christian Aaron Clay Wilson (born 17 January 1979, in Ely) is an English retired professional footballer having played for Norwich City, Bristol Rovers and Southend United. Career Wilson, a right footed left back, started his career with Norwich City for whom he made 25 appearances, becoming a cult hero with fans. Jeremy Russell Brockie (born 7 October 1987) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a forward.
