Richhill, County Armagh
Richhill is a large village and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies between Armagh and Portadown. It had a population of 2,821 people in the 2011 Census. Originally named Legacorry, it takes its name from Edward Richardson, who built Richhill Castle, the manor house around which the village grew. Origins At the beginning of the 1600s, the area of Richhill had long been part of the Gaelic Ireland, Irish Gaelic territory of Oneilland. In 1610, as part of the Plantation of Ulster, the land was granted to Englishman Francis Sacherevall. His granddaughter Ann married Edward Richardson, who was an English officer, Member of Parliament for County Armagh from 1655 to 1696, and High Sheriff of Armagh in 1665. Around 1660, Richardson built Richhill Castle, a manor house on the site that would become Richhill, and in 1664 it was reported that there were twenty houses there.T.G.F. Richhill Township is a township in Greene County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 775 at the 2020 census, down from 896 at the 2010 census. Ryerson Station State Park is a Pennsylvania state park on Duke Lake in the township. History A significant Monongahela village was once located in northern Richhill Township, along the Enlow Fork. Today, the village is known as the Fisher site, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Richhill Township was formed in 1792, it was originally part of Washington County. When Greene County was formed in 1796, it included Cumberland, Franklin, Greene, Morgan, Richhill, and a small portion of Finley. Richhill Township is in 18th Congressional District, the 46th Senatorial District, and the 50th Legislative District of Pennsylvania.
