Richard Maxton
Richard Maxton (born 5 June 1979 in Scotland) is a former Scotland Club XV international rugby union player who played for Glasgow Warriors at the Flanker (rugby union), Flanker position. Rugby union career Amateur career He started off playing rugby for Hamilton RFC but then moved to play for Stewart's Melville RFC, Stewarts Melville FP while at Edinburgh University. He was spotted by Glasgow District Rugby Union and was included in the Glasgow Thistles squad - the district's 'academy' team - that went to New Zealand for rugby training in the summer of 1998. He was a key player in Glasgow Hawks RFC, Glasgow Hawks successful side of the early 2000s. He won the Premier Division 3 times in a row with the Hawks from 2003-6. The 2001–02 season is the sixth in the history of the Glasgow Warriors as a professional side. During this season the young professional side competed as Glasgow Rugby; reverting to their original professional title and dropping the Caledonian name inherited from the Caledonia Reds merger. Flanker (rugby Union)
Flanker is a position in the sport of rugby union. Each team of 15 players includes two flankers, who play in the Forwards (rugby union), forwards, and are generally classified as either List of rugby union terms#B, blindside or List of rugby union terms#O, openside flankers, numbers 6 and 7 respectively. The name comes from their position in a Scrum (rugby union), scrum in which they 'flank' each set of forwards.
