Richard Kermode
Richard Kermode (October 5, 1946 – January 16, 1996) was an American keyboardist, known for performing with Janis Joplin, Malo, Santana, and Ray Cepeda. History Richard Kermode was born on October 5, 1946, in Lovell, Wyoming. Kermode grew up in Buffalo, New York, and attended Kenmore West Senior High School. By his teens, he was already a talented organist playing in a jazz trio called Milestones in Niagara Falls, Ontario. In 1969, he moved to San Francisco, where he became a member of Janis Joplin's Kosmic Blues Band, and he performed with them at the Woodstock festival in the same year. After Joplin's death in 1971, he joined the Latin rock band Malo. After leaving Malo in 1972, he became a member of Santana, and he played on their ''Welcome'' album as well as touring with them during their 1972–1973 tour of ''Caravanserai''. ''Welcome'' is the fifth studio album by Santana, released in 1973. It followed the jazz-fusion formula that the preceding ''Caravanserai'' had inaugurated, but with an expanded and different lineup this time. Gregg Rolie had left the band along with Neal Schon to form Journey, and they were replaced by Tom Coster, Richard Kermode and Leon Thomas, along with guest John McLaughlin, who had collaborated with Carlos Santana on ''Love Devotion Surrender''. ''Welcome'' also featured John Coltrane's widow, Alice, as a pianist on the album's opening track, "Going Home" and Flora Purim (the wife of Airto Moreira) on vocals. This album was far more experimental than the first four albums, and ''Welcome'' did not produce any hit singles. Kenmore West Senior High School (nicknamed Ken-West) is one of two public high schools in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District. The other is Kenmore East Senior High School. History Founding In 1938, a WPA grant of about $700,000 was received from the federal government toward the creation of a separate building for the senior high school on Highland Parkway, and the school district provided over $1M in additional funds. José Octavio "Chepito" Areas Dávila (born 25 July 1946) is a Nicaraguan percussionist best known for having played timbales and Conga drums in the Latin rock group Santana in 1969–1977 and 1987–1989. Patrick Anson Doheny "Ned" Doheny (born March 26, 1948) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist from Malibu, California, who has recorded eight albums and has performed with other artists including Don Henley and Glenn Frey of the Eagles, J.D.
