Richard Kelly (rugby Union)
Richard Kelly (born 10 September 1987) is a retired Welsh rugby union player who played as a lock for the Ospreys and the Scarlets in the Pro14. He was appointed as the Ospreys' transition coach in September 2022. Rugby career Kelly was born in Swansea, and played for both Mumbles and Dunvant before signing for Swansea RFC in 2007. He made his debut for the Ospreys regional side in May 2009 playing the last 6 minutes of the Celtic League match against Munster, this would be his only league appearance for the Ospreys. Over the next three season Kelly continued to play for Swansea making a further 5 appearances for the Ospreys, all in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, before joining the Scarlets in the summer of 2012. Kelly got a broken arm in a Champions Cup game against Leicester Tigers in October 2014. Scarlets Players
The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup (which replaced the Heineken Cup from the 2014–15 season). The club was originally named the Llanelli Scarlets but was renamed at the start of the 2008–09 rugby season. Leicester Tigers (officially Leicester Football Club) are a professional rugby union club based in Leicester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. The club was founded in 1880 and since 1892 plays its home matches at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in the south of the city. The club has been known by the nickname Tigers since at least 1885. The European Rugby Champions Cup (known as the Heineken Champions Cup for sponsorship reasons) is an annual rugby union tournament organised by European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR). It is the top-tier competition for clubs who compete in a predominantly European league. The Anglo-Welsh Cup (), was a cross-border rugby union knock-out cup competition that featured the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs and the four Welsh regions. It was a created as a replacement for the RFU Knockout Cup, which featured only English clubs. The competition was replaced by the Premiership Rugby Cup, involving only the 12 English Premiership clubs, beginning with the 2018–19 season. The United Rugby Championship (URC) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. The current name was adopted in 2021 when the league expanded to include four South African teams previously from the SANZAR Super Rugby competition. The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe (along with the English Premiership and the French Top 14), the most successful teams from which go forward to compete in the European Rugby Champions Cup. Since 2022–23, despite the name, South African teams have been eligible to qualify for European competition, and one South African place is guaranteed.
