Richard Kaschula
Richard Herbert Kaschula (born 9 November 1946) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer, described by CricInfo's Martin Williamson as "a legendary character in Zimbabwe cricket". A slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Midlands, Rhodesia, Kaschula was a leading figure in the Rhodesian side throughout the 1970s. His batting was negligible, and his weight – up to 20 stone (c. 120 kg) during his career – made him slow in the field, but his bowling was effective and sometimes match-winning. In his first season of first-class cricket he took 41 wickets at an average of 14.83, helping Rhodesia to victory in the B Section of the Currie Cup. His best first-class figures came in October 1980 for Zimbabwe against the touring Middlesex team, when he took 6 for 68 and 4 for 98, and Zimbabwe won by four wickets. Gweru
Gweru is a city in central Zimbabwe. Near the geographical centre of the country. It is on the centre of Midlands Province. Originally an area known to the Northern Ndebele people, Ndebele as "The Steep Place" because of the Gweru River's high Bank (geography), banks, in 1894 it became the site of a military outpost established by Leander Starr Jameson. In 1914 it attained Municipality, municipal status, and in 1971 it became a city. The city has a population of 158,200 as of the 2022 census. Gweru is known for farming activities in beef cattle, crop farming, and commercial gardening of crops for the export market. Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Middlesex which has effectively been subsumed within the ceremonial county of Greater London. The CSA 4-Day Domestic Series is the domestic first class cricket competition of South Africa. The tournament is contested by teams from all nine provinces of South Africa. First contested as the Currie Cup from 1889–90, the tournament has undergone many changes and modifications in its history. In 2004, the traditional province based format was replaced, with many teams amalgamating. In its place six entirely professional franchises were created that represented much larger population areas. The competition underwent significant restructuring once again before the start of the 2021–22 season. Rhodesia Cricket Team
The Rhodesia cricket team played first-class cricket and represented originally the British colony of Southern Rhodesia and later the unilaterally independent state of Rhodesia which became Zimbabwe.
