Richard J. Allen (politician)
Richard J. Allen (born August 6, 1933) was a Republican member of both houses of the Michigan Legislature between 1969 and 1982. Allen was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 1968 to succeed his father, Lester Allen. After serving two terms, Allen was defeated in the 1972 primary election. Two years later, he won election to the Michigan Senate, served two terms, and was defeated in the 1982 primary. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress twice: in 1980, losing to Donald J. Albosta, and 1990, losing to Dave Camp in the primary. Michigan's 30th Senate District
Michigan's 30th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 30th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Republican Mark Huizenga since 2023, succeeding fellow Republican Roger Victory. By most measures it is the most Republican-leaning district in the Senate. Michigan State Fair
The Michigan State Fair is an annual event originally held from 1849 to 2009 in Detroit, the state's largest city. In 2009 the governor declined to fund it because of other priorities. Because agriculture still has a major place in the Michigan economy, in 2011 supporters organized the Great Lakes Agricultural Fair, a 501 C (3) organization, in order to continue the event. Since 2013 it has been organized by the private Michigan State Fair LLC and held in the Suburban Collection Showplace in the Metro Detroit suburb of Novi. The National Audubon Society (Audubon; ) is an American non-profit environmental organization dedicated to conservation of birds and their habitats. Located in the United States and incorporated in 1905, Audubon is one of the oldest of such organizations in the world.
