Richard Badendyck
Carl Richard Badendyck (born in 1942) is a Norwegian Jazz singer and pianist, that in his time was strong in Decathlon. Biography Badendyck has released three solo albums, ''That’s All'' (2005), ''Peace'' (2010) and ''Lover'' (2015), and it is on time for a Norwegian male voice on the jazz scene again. The second album ''Peace'' containing American standards and with his son Dag Richard Badendyck as pianist on a song, got good reception in the media. The latest album with songs from «The American Songbook» with strings arranged by Odd Riisnæs who also plays saxophone, while Stig Hvalryg playing upright bass and Sigmund Thorp conducting the string orchestra. There are for the most standards, except Badendycks own tune, "Lover". It has been done with respect for the masters, and sounds much more robust than for example Kurt Elling and Gregory Porter, or for that matter Jimmy Scott. ''Nettavisen'' is a Norwegian online newspaper, launched in 1996 as the first online-only newspaper in Norway. The current editor is Gunnar Stavrum. As of 2015 it was one of Norway's most popular news websites. ''Dagbladet'' (lit.: ''The Daily Magazine'') is one of Norway's largest newspapers and is published in the tabloid format. It has 1,400,000 daily readers on mobile, web and paper. Traditionally ''Dagbladet'' is considered the main liberal newspaper of Norway, with a generally liberal progressive editorial outlook, to some extent associated with the movement of cultural radicalism in Scandinavian history. Odd Riisnæs
Odd Riisnæs (born 12 May 1953) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) and composer. He was born in Oslo, Norway, the son of pianist Eline Nygaard Riisnæs and the younger brother of jazz saxophonist Knut Riisnæs. He is known from a series of releases and cooperations with the likes of Dag Arnesen, Arve Henriksen, Kjell Karlsen, Geir Lysne, Iver Kleive, Nils Petter Molvær, Jon Eberson, Terje Gewelt, Jon Balke, Audun Kleive and Oslo 13 Career Riisnæs was in different orchestras led by Terje Lie, Paul Weeden, Ditlef Eckhoff, Richard Badendyck, Per Husby, Ole Jacob Hansen/Harald Gundhus, Dag Arnesen, Jens Wendelboe, Kjell Karlsen and Jan Harrington. In the 1980s he played with the bands "Kråbøl", Oslo 13, "Radiostorbandet", "Lille Frøen Saksofonkvartett" and Dag Arnesen quintet. Stig Hvalryg (born 15 July 1960 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (upright bass), known from several orchestras and recordings, and a profile on the Oslo Jazz scene in recent years. Career He plays within Bodil Niska Quartet, "Rickard Badendyck Quartet", in "Willy Andresen Quartet", "Frode Thingnæs Quartet", "Michael Block Trio", "Tore Sandnæs Trio", with Inge Stangvik/Eivin Sannes, as well as within the Eivin Sannes "Dexter Gordon Project". Kurt Elling
Kurt Elling (born November 2, 1967) is an American jazz singer and songwriter. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Rockford, Illinois, Rockford, Elling became interested in music through his father, who was Kapellmeister at a Lutheran church. He sang in choirs and played musical instruments. He encountered jazz while a student at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. After college, he enrolled in the University of Chicago Divinity School, but he left one credit short of a degree to pursue a career as a jazz vocalist. Elling began to perform around Chicago, scat singing and improvising his lyrics. He recorded a demo in the early 1990s and was signed by Blue Note Records, Blue Note.
