He represented Québec-Ouest (provincial electoral district), Québec-Ouest in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1877 to 1878 as a Conservative Party of Quebec (historical), Conservative. He was born in Imokilly, Trabolgan, County Cork, the son of Richard Israël Alleyn and Margaret O'Donovan, and came to Lower Canada with his family in 1838. Alleyn was educated at the Séminaire de Québec and the Université Laval. He was called to the Lower Canada bar in 1857 and set up a practice at Quebec City with Alexandre Chauveau. Legislative Assembly Of Quebec
The Legislative Assembly of Quebec (French: ''Assemblée législative du Québec'') was the name of the lower house of Quebec's legislature from 1867 to December 31, 1968, when it was renamed the National Assembly of Quebec. At the same time, the upper house of the legislature, the Legislative Council, was abolished. Both were initially created by the Constitution Act, 1867. It was the Union Nationale government of Premier Jean-Jacques Bertrand that passed the "Bill 90" legislation to abolish the upper house, but earlier attempts had been made by earlier governments. The presiding officer of the Assembly was known in French as ''orateur'', a literal translation of the English term, ''speaker''. Alexandre Chauveau
Alexandre Chauveau (February 23, 1847 – March 7, 1916) was a lawyer, judge, educator and political figure in Quebec. He represented Rimouski in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1872 to 1880 as both a Conservative member and a Liberal cabinet minister. He was born in Quebec City, the son of Pierre-Joseph-Olivier Chauveau and Marie-Louise-Flore Massé. Chauveau was educated at the Collège Sainte-Marie at Montreal, the Université Laval and McGill University. He articled in law with S. Lelièvre at Quebec City and George-Étienne Cartier in Montreal, was called to the Quebec bar in 1868 and set up practice in Quebec City with Richard Alleyn. In 1871, he married Marie-Anne-Adèle, the daughter of Ulric-Joseph Tessier. In 1878, Chauveau was named Queen's Counsel. Alexandre-René Chaussegros de Léry (March 26, 1818 – December 19, 1880) was a Quebec seigneur, lawyer and political figure. He was a Conservative member of the Senate of Canada for Lauzon division from 1871 to 1876 and also represented the same division in the Legislative Council of Quebec from 1867 to 1880. He was born at Quebec City in 1818, the son of seigneur Charles-Étienne Chaussegros de Léry, and studied at the Petit Séminaire of Quebec. He articled in law with Louis de Gonzague Baillairgé and was admitted to the bar in 1842. In 1844, he married Catherine Charlotte-Éliza, the daughter of seigneur Antoine-Gaspard Couillard. He inherited the seigneuries of Rigaud-Vaudreuil and Sainte-Barbe-de-la-Famine and also owned property at Quebec City and Saint-François-de-la-Beauce (now Beauceville, Quebec).
