Rich Brown (Michigan Politician)
Rich Brown (Richard J. Brown, born April 9, 1956) is the assistant clerk, former clerk, and former Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Brown had a career in radio, for WUUN (now WFXD) in Marquette and as news director at WUPM in Ironwood, before working as a reporter for the Ironwood Daily Globe. He was also the director of the Marty's Goldenaires Senior Drum and Bugle Corps in Bessemer. Ironwood, Michigan
Ironwood is a city in Gogebic County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, about south of Lake Superior. The city is on US Highway 2 across the Montreal River from Hurley, Wisconsin. It is the westernmost city in Michigan, situated on the same line of longitude (90.2 degrees West) as Clinton, Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri. The population was 5,045 at the 2020 census, down from 5,387 at the 2010 census. The city is bordered by Ironwood Township to the north, but the two are administered automously. While originally an iron mining town, the area is now known for its downhill skiing resorts, including Big Powderhorn, Black River, Snow River, Mount Zion and Whitecap as well as its cross country skiing at the Wolverine Nordic Trail System and the ABR Nordic Center. WUPM
WUPM (106.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to Ironwood, Michigan, United States, broadcasting a hot adult contemporary music format. The station began broadcasting in 1978 as a Top 40 (CHR) format, and has featured a contemporary music format throughout its history. History A tragic storm hit the WUPM tower on April 1, 2015, crashing the structure to the ground. The transmitter building was not damaged, and no one was hurt. After the storm, WUPM returned to the airwaves under special authorization from the FCC utilizing a temporary transmitting site at reduced power. During the month of November, 2016, a new 300 foot tower was erected on the Anvil Hill transmitting site bringing WUPM back to its full power. Shortly thereafter, long time morning DJ, Jesse Baroka, took ownership of the station. As of March 28, 2016, WUPM increased its ERP from 53,000 watts to 100,000 watts.
