2009 Eneco Tour
The 2009 Eneco Tour was the fifth edition of the Eneco Tour cycling stage race. It took place from 18 August to 25 August 2009 in the Benelux. Like the previous years, parts of the Netherlands and Belgium were covered. It was part of the inaugural UCI World Ranking. It began with a short individual time trial in Rotterdam and ended with a longer one in Amersfoort. Teams As the Tour of Benelux is a UCI ProTour event, all 18 ProTeams were invited automatically and obligated to send a squad. Three UCI Professional Continental teams, , , and were also invited to the race, for a total of 21 teams. Each team was allowed eight riders, though sent only seven and had a rider who planned to start withdraw due to injury before the prologue, meaning 166 riders began the event. Rijsbergen
Rijsbergen a town in the municipality of Zundert in the southern Netherlands. In the town used to be an AC (Aanmeldcentrum, i.e. Asylum Request Center). Until 1997 Rijsbergen was an independent municipality, after which it was added to Zundert. The skyline of Rijsbergen is dominated by the neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church of Saint Bavo, which was built in 1918 as a replacement of a smaller fourteenth-century church. The church is situated in the town centre and is flanked by the former town hall, which has been transformed into a museum. Furthermore, in the outskirts of Rijsbergen a successful Garden Centre can be found named: "De Bosrand". A deeply loved place by the locals. Tour de l'Avenir ( en, Tour of the Future) is a French road bicycle racing stage race, which started in 1961 as a race similar to the Tour de France and over much of the same course but for amateurs and for semi-professionals known as independents. Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Laurent Fignon, Egan Bernal, and Tadej Pogačar won the Tour de l'Avenir and went on to win 15 Tours de France, with an additional 10 podium placings between them. 2009 Tour Of Qatar ...
The 2009 Tour of Qatar was held from 1 February to 6 February 2009 in Qatar. It was a multiple stage road cycling race that took part over six stages with a total of and was part of the 2008-2009 UCI Asia Tour. The Race was won by Tom Boonen of the Quick Step team. During the night after stage 4 Belgian cyclist Frederiek Nolf of the Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator team died in his sleep of a suspected heart attack. The organisers cancelled stage 5 and held a 'cycling procession' instead.
