2009 Tour Of Qatar ...
The 2009 Tour of Qatar was held from 1 February to 6 February 2009 in Qatar. It was a multiple stage road cycling race that took part over six stages with a total of and was part of the 2008-2009 UCI Asia Tour. The Race was won by Tom Boonen of the Quick Step team. During the night after stage 4 Belgian cyclist Frederiek Nolf of the Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator team died in his sleep of a suspected heart attack. The organisers cancelled stage 5 and held a 'cycling procession' instead. Tom Boonen
Tom Boonen (; born 15 October 1980) is a Belgian former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 2002 and 2017 for the and teams and a professional racing driver who currently competes in Belcar, having previously competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Boonen won the 2005 UCI World Road Race Championships, and was a single-day road specialist with a strong finishing sprint. He won the cycling monuments Paris–Roubaix 4 times and the Tour of Flanders 3 times, among many other prestigious victories, such as prevailing 5 times in the E3 Harelbeke, winning 6 stages of the Tour de France and winning the Overall title of the Tour of Qatar 4 times. Denis Ramilyevich Galimzyanov ( tt-Cyrl, Денис Рамил улы Галимҗанов, russian: Денис Рамильевич Галимзянов; born 7 March 1987 in Yekaterinburg, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union) is a former Russian racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI ProTeam . He obtained a major victory in the classic Paris–Brussels in 2011, where he imposed himself in a massive sprint after 218.5 kilometers of racing. Doping On 16 April 2012, Galimzyanov was provisionally suspended by the UCI, after testing positive for EPO in an out-of-competition drugs test in March. He admitted the charge the next day and said he took sole responsibility and had acted without the knowledge of his team. Mikhail Ignatiev (cyclist)
Mikhail Borisovich Ignatiev (russian: Михаил Борисович Игнатьев) (born 7 May 1985) is a former Russian professional track and road bicycle racer. He recently rode for UCI ProTour team , as well as participating in various track events. He is known as a time trial specialist, and also has a reputation for making the breakaway in road races and trying, often with success, to solo to victory. Career In 2004 Ignatiev achieved his biggest success to date, winning a gold medal in the points race at the Athens Olympics. On the road, Ignatiev came to prominence with his ability in the individual time trial. In 2002 and 2003, he was the World Junior Champion, while in 2005 he became the World Under 23 Champion. Wouter Weylandt (27 September 1984 – 9 May 2011) was a Belgian professional cyclist for UCI ProTeam and later for . His first major win was the 17th stage of the 2008 Vuelta a España. He also won the third stage of the 2010 Giro d'Italia. He died in a crash during the third stage of the 2011 Giro d'Italia.
