Rhian O'Sullivan
Rhian O'Sullivan (née Edwards; 20 January 1981) is a Welsh female professional darts player who plays in events of the World Darts Federation (WDF). Darts career O'Sullivan was a quarter finalist in the 2009 Women's World Masters. She qualified for her first BDO Women's World Championship in 2010. She defeated fellow Welshwoman Julie Gore 2–0 in the quarter-finals, and Karen Lawman 2–0 in the semi-finals. In the final, she was beaten 2–0 by Trina Gulliver. In 2011, she again reached the World Championship final after victories over Gore in the quarter-finals and Deta Hedman in the semi-finals. She was beaten 2–0 by Gulliver for the second final in a row. In 2012, O'Sullivan was defeated in the first round by top seed and eventual runner-up Hedman. BDO World Darts Championship
The WDF World Darts Championship is a world championship competition in darts, organised by the World Darts Federation. It would previously organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), who held it 43 times from 1978 to 2020. The championship was first held at the Heart of the Midlands Nightclub in the English city of Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. From 1986 to 2019, it was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. In 2020, the tournament was held at Indigo, part of the O2 entertainment district in London. Until the split in darts, it was the only World Darts Championship tournament. The 1993 tournament was the last unified Championship. 16 players left following a dispute with the BDO and the newly formed Professional Darts Corporation started staging its own annual PDC World Championship since 1994. Kirsty Hutchinson (born 6 April 1991) is an English professional darts player who plays in events of the World Darts Federation (WDF). Career In October 2019, Hutchinson qualified for the 2020 BDO World Darts Championship as one of the Playoff Qualifiers, but lost 1–2 to Aileen de Graaf in the first round. 2014 BDO World Darts Championship
The 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 37th World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 29th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. Scott Waites was the defending men's champion, having won the title for the first time in the 2013 championship, but he was defeated 0–3 in the first round by eventual runner-up Alan Norris, who in turn lost to first seed Stephen Bunting in the final. The defending women's champion was Anastasia Dobromyslova, who won her third title in 2013. She lost to the eventual champion Lisa Ashton in the semi-finals. This tournament saw the biggest field ever for a BDO World Championship. 56 players – 40 men, up from 32 in 2013, and 16 women – up from 8 in 2013 – competed for the world titles. The 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 35th BDO World Darts Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 27th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. It ran from 7–15 January. Martin Adams was the defending men's champion, having won the title for the third time in the previous year's final against Dean Winstanley. The defending women's champion was Trina Gulliver, who won her ninth title in the 2011 final against Rhian Edwards. Neither champion was able to defend their title as Adams lost his quarter-final against Tony O'Shea and Gulliver her semi-final against Anastasia Dobromyslova. Dobromyslova then beat Deta Hedman in the final to win her second world championship title. Deta Hedman
Deta Hedman (born 14 November 1959) is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Biography Hedman was born in Jamaica in 1959. Her parents emigrated to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, leaving Hedman and her siblings in the care of relatives in Jamaica. She spent her childhood with her aunt in Castleton in a shack without running water or electricity, going to school from Monday to Thursday and working on the farm on Fridays. Her parents eventually settled in Witham, Essex and over time, brought their children to the UK, with Hedman joining them in January 1973. She started playing darts with her older brother after babysitting for him and then at the local pub in Witham and further afield in Essex. When she was 25, she joined a super league. She was selected for the county, and in 1987 she began playing in British Darts Organisation events. Trina Gulliver
Catrina Elizabeth Gulliver (born 30 November 1969) is an English professional darts player. She is the 10-time Women's World Professional Darts Champion of the British Darts Organisation (BDO). Her nickname is Golden Girl and in 2003, she was named as the BBC Midlands Sports Personality of the Year. Early life The daughter of publicans, Gulliver was born in Warneford Hospital in Leamington Spa, and was brought up in the small town of Southam in Warwickshire. She trained as a carpenter and joiner, and later taught carpentry and joinery at Mid-Warwickshire College, Leamington Spa. Julie Robin Gore (born 5 August 1958) is a former Welsh professional female darts player. Career Gore made her World Championship in 2008, losing in the quarter finals to Trina Gulliver. She later reached the semi finals of the Women's Winmau World Masters, beating Irina Armstrong in the quarter finals before losing to another Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova. Gore originally entered the 2009 World Championship as the number 4 seed, but following Dobromyslova's defection to the Professional Darts Corporation she was moved up to the number 3 seed.
