Rhayader Town Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl-droed Tref Rhaeadr Gwy) are a Welsh football team. The club dates from around 1884 and their ground is called Y Weirglodd, which accommodates 435 seated spectators. The club plays in the Ardal Leagues North East, tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid. History The club was first recorded as existing in 1883 with the Montgomeryshire Express recording Rhayader Football Club losing 3-2 at Llanidloes. They first entered the Mid Wales League in 1921, winning their first title in 1925 before dropping out of the league in 1927. The club returned the following season but once again disappeared in 1930 and remained absent until 1936 when they were founder members of the newly organised Central Wales League. After World War Two the club returned to the Central Wales League, before they withdrew in 1951. Rhayader (; cy, Rhaeadr Gwy; ) is a market town and community in Powys, Wales, within the historic county of Radnorshire. The town is from the source of the River Wye on Plynlimon, the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains, and is located at the junction of the A470 road and the A44 road north of Builth Wells and east of Aberystwyth. The population was 2,088, with 55% of the community having some form of Welsh identity, according to the 2011 census. The community is the largest in Wales by area, with . It includes the Elan Valley. Rhayader holds the record for the lowest-ever temperature recorded in Wales, -23.3 °C on 21 January 1940. Mid Wales South League
The Mid Wales South League is an association football league, currently consisting of five clubs, mainly from Mid Wales but some from just over the border in England. It is currently called the ''Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South)'' for sponsorship reasons. The founder members of the league were Brecon St John's, Felindre, Llandrindod Wells, Llanwrthwl, Llanwrtyd, Presteigne St. Andrew's, Rhayader Town and Whitton. Felindre were the first league champions. The league lies in the fifth level of the Welsh football league system. Teams may be promoted to the Mid Wales Football League if standards and facilities fall into line with the regulations of the Mid Wales League. Cymru Alliance
The Cymru Alliance League (known for sponsorship reasons as Huws Gray Alliance) was a football league in north and central Wales which formed the second level of the Welsh football league system. From the 2019/20 season onwards, it was replaced by the Cymru North. If the team which finished top of the league held a Domestic Licence, it could apply for promotion to the Welsh Premier League and was replaced by one of the bottom two teams in the Welsh Premier League. If the league champions did not hold a Domestic Licence, then the team which finished second, if in possession of a Domestic Licence, could be promoted instead.
