The Gracie Family () are a prominent martial arts family originally from Belém, state of Pará, Brazil whose ancestors came from Paisley, Scotland. They are known for creating the self-defense martial arts system of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They have been successful in combat sports competitions for over 80 years representing their self-defense system (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) including mixed martial arts (MMA), Vale tudo and submission wrestling events. Several members were involved in the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) along with the promoter Art Davie. As a family, the Gracies upheld the "Gracie Challenge", a martial arts challenge intended to showcase the effectiveness of their style of jiu-jitsu, against other martial arts disciplines. Kron Gracie
Kron Gracie (born July 11, 1988) is a Brazilian-American mixed martial artist, grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and instructor. A member of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gracie family, he is the son of Rickson Gracie and a grandson of Hélio Gracie. A two-time IBJJF World and four-time Pan-American champion in coloured belts, he received his black belt at the age of 19. Gracie held in 2008 a world record of 51 consecutive matches won by submission at high level tournaments. Daniel Simões, known professionally as Daniel Gracie, is a Brazilian former mixed martial artist, professional wrestler and practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
