Rexband
Rexband is the first Catholic band from the Indian subcontinent to be invited to the World Youth Day performance in 2002 at Toronto. From then, they have been consistently invited for the later World Youth days in 2005 at Cologne, in 2008 at Sydney and in the 2011 at Madrid. In the most recent 2013 held at Rio de Janeiro, the Rexband had the blessing of performing at the WYD main stage – right before the Holy Father's message at the night vigil. Rexband was established in the late 1980s and early 1990s by a group of young musicians who experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus through the Jesus Youth movement. Jesus Youth
Jesus Youth (JY) is an International Catholic Movement, approved by the Holy See. The Movement evolved as an outcome of the Charismatic revival that spread across India in the mid-1970s. JY had its beginnings in Kerala, India, and evolved as an active part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the state in the late 1970s. In 1985, the International Year of Youth, a number of youth groups came together under a single name, Jesus Youth. Gradually, it spread to different parts of India and to a number of other countries. On 20 May 2016, it was granted recognition by the Vatican as an international private association of the faithful with juridical personality. World Youth Day 2011
World Youth Day 2011 ( es, Jornada Mundial de la Juventud 2011) was the 2011 occurrence of World Youth Day, a Catholic event held from 16–21 August 2011 in Madrid, Spain focused on youth. Media estimated the event's attendance as over a million or 1.5 million. Pope Benedict XVI revealed the location of the event at the final Mass in Australia at Sydney's Royal Randwick Racecourse during World Youth Day 2008. A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music.
