Reverend Bizarre
Reverend Bizarre was a doom metal band from Finland. Formed in 1995, they played slow and heavy traditional doom with dramatic vocals, following in the footsteps of bands such as Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Black Sabbath. The band was one of the biggest names in 2000s traditional doom metal. History Beginnings (1994–1999) The band was formed in 1994 in Lohja. After their military service, Albert Witchfinder, Peter Vicar and Juippi began playing in autumn 1997. In the summer of 1998, Albert moved to Turku to continue Reverend Bizarre with Vicar. To complete their training, they get back in touch with Earl of Void, at this time recently released from prison. They recorded the ''Slice of Doom'' demo in three days (16, 17 and 23 August 1999), which they send to several labels in the hope of signing a contract. Mannhai
Mannhai is a Finnish stoner rock band from Helsinki. The band was formed in late 1999 by bass player Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine and guitarist Ilkka "Ile" Laaksomaa. Soon they were accompanied by a young drummer, Mikko "Junior" Pietinen, and the following year by lead singer Jani "Joãnitor" Muurinen. In 2004, Muurinen left the band after three albums. In 2005 Mannhai persuaded Pasi Koskinen to replace Muurinen as a vocalist. Koskinen is best known for being the lead singer of Amorphis during the years 1996–2004. The band's name Mannhai comes from an Indian belief. In the countryside of the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, people in villages believed an evil disguised spirit called the ''Mannhai'' snatched their children at nightfall. Minotauri was a doom metal band from Finland. Alongside Reverend Bizarre and Spiritus Mortis they were one of the most important bands in the Finnish true doom metal movement. Orodruin (band)
Orodruin is an American doom metal band from Rochester, New York, who play traditional doom as part of the style's early-2000s revival, playing alongside bands like Reverend Bizarre, While Heaven Wept, and Penance. Their sophomore release ''Ruins of Eternity'' came out on Cruz Del Sur Records on October 25, 2019. Orodruin began in 1998. Bridging the love for Tolkien with doom metal with influences like Saint Vitus, Candlemass, Cathedral, Trouble and Black Sabbath. In its primal stages John Gallo (then singer/guitarist), cousin Nick Tydelski (guitar) and best friend Mike Puleo (guitar) recorded an early demo in late 1998/1999. It was recorded with engineer Sebastian Marino (Overkill) at Audio Images and hired drummer Rob Mount (Ramrod, Lou Graham Band). The sole track, "Slave of Satan" appears here unabridged (featuring an intro and outro with a "Recitation of the Black Liturgy" by Daniel Nyman of Oak) as it was later released in edited form (13:26) on the band's second LP. The single was edited to the exact length of 20:59 to fit the total length limitations set for the Finnish single charts. The release hit the Finnish single charts at number 2, staying on the charts for five weeks. Barathrum
Barathrum is a Finnish black-doom metal band, formed in 1990. The band's name is Latin for ''pit'' or ''abyss''. The first letters of their eight full-length albums spell "HEIL SOVA" - referring to the band's frontman, Demonos Sova, who is the only original member of the band. Their music is stylistically similar to early black metal acts such as Venom and Celtic Frost. Their lyrics deal with occult and religious themes. History Barathrum was founded at Kuopio, Finland under a name of Darkfeast, which was changed into Barathrum the year after. Barathrum recorded several demos during the years 1991-1993. After the demos, Barathrum signed to an underground German record label called Nazgul’s Eyrie Productions which released low budget studio albums "Hailstorm" (1995), "Eerie (1995)" and "Infernal" (1997) before the label went hiatus and left Barathrum as an unsigned artist.
