Perry Farrell
Perry Farrell (born Peretz Bernstein; March 29, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman of the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction. Farrell created the touring festival Lollapalooza as part (one of the venues) of a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction in 1991; it has since evolved into an annual destination festival. Farrell continues to produce Lollapalooza with partners William Morris Agency and C3 Presents. Farrell has also led the alternative rock groups Porno for Pyros and Satellite Party. "Jane Says" is a song by American rock band Jane's Addiction. It was released as a promotional single in 1988, becoming the band's first chart entry on the Alternative Songs chart, peaking at #6. It was first released in semi-live format on the group's 1987 debut album, ''Jane's Addiction''. It was re-recorded in the studio for the follow-up album, ''Nothing's Shocking''. The ''Nothing's Shocking'' version is the most widely known version of the song, featuring steel drums that are not present on the cut from the self-titled album. A true live version appears on the band's 1997 new/live/out-take compilation ''Kettle Whistle''. It is one of Jane's Addiction's most famous songs and frequently ends their concerts. Satellite Of Love
"Satellite of Love" is a song by Lou Reed. It is the second single from his 1972 album ''Transformer''. At the time of its release, it achieved minor US chart success (#119), though it later became a staple of his concerts and compilation albums. Background and recording "Satellite of Love" was composed in 1970 while Reed was still a member of the Velvet Underground. "Ripple" is the sixth song on the Grateful Dead album '' American Beauty''. It was released as the B-side to the single "Truckin'". Background Robert Hunter wrote this song in 1970 in London on the same afternoon he wrote "Brokedown Palace" and "To Lay Me Down" (reputedly drinking half a bottle of retsina in the process ). The song debuted August 18, 1970 at Fillmore West in San Francisco. Jerry Garcia wrote the music to this song. "Ripple" has a similar melody to the gospel hymn "Because He Lives," which was published a year later. Both songs are similar to " Any Dream Will Do" from the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat''. "Pets" is a song by alternative rock band Porno for Pyros and the second single from their 1993 self-titled album ''Porno for Pyros''. "The Cursed Female / Cursed Male" single preceded ''Pets,'' but saw only a limited radio station and promotional release, making ''Pets'' the first widely available commercial single from the album. The song became a No. 1 hit on the '' Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. In Australia, the song reached number 68 and came in at number 33 on the 1993 Triple J Hottest 100 countdown. ''Good God's Urge'' is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Porno for Pyros. It was released in 1996 on Warner Bros. It was the band's first album to feature bass guitarist Mike Watt, who assisted the band in finishing the album after Martyn LeNoble left before all his bass tracks had been completed. There were three singles released from the album. In addition to Watt, many guest musicians lent their musical talents to various songs. "Porpoise Head" featured Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins from Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and the Bubblemen. ''Good God's Urge'' also marked a reunion of ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, who played guitar on the album track "Freeway." "Mountain Song" is a song by Jane's Addiction and the second single from their 1988 album ''Nothing's Shocking''. "Mountain Song" was the first song written by the band in 1985, before a band name had even been decided upon.
