Resurreccion Acop
Resurreccion "Cion" Marrero Acop (November 21, 1947 – May 28, 2021) was a Filipino politician and medical doctor who specialized in pediatrics. She served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the 2nd district of Antipolo, from 2019 until her death in 2021. During her stint in the 18th Congress, she was the vice chairperson of the House Committee on Health and member of the Committees on Agriculture and Food, Basic Education and Culture, Inter-parliamentary Relations And Diplomacy, Public Order And Safety, Public Works And Highways, and Welfare Of Children. She was also a member of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal. Acop's husband, former police general Romeo Acop, served in the same seat from 2010 until 2019 and again since 2022. Antipolo, officially known as the City of Antipolo ( fil, Lungsod ng Antipolo), is a 1st class component city and capital of the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 887,399 people. It is the most populous city in the Calabarzon region, and the seventh most-populous city in the Philippines. Antipolo was converted from a municipality into a component city of Rizal Province on April 4, 1998, under Republic Act No. 8508. House Of Representatives Electoral Tribunal
The House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) is an electoral tribunal that decides election protests in the House of Representatives of the Philippines. It consists of six representatives and three justices of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, who are designated by the Chief Justice. The equivalent tribunals for elections to the upper house is the Senate Electoral Tribunal and for president is the Presidential Electoral Tribunal. The tribunal is located at SET-HRET Building, Commission on Audit Compound, Quezon City. Members of the Tribunal receive a monthly allowance of 100,000 Philippine pesos on top of their regular salaries. In August 2020, the tribunal abandoned its old building in Quezon City when the city's Department of Building Official condemned it.
