Residencial Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas, more commonly known as Residencial Las Casas, Caserio Las Casas or Las Casas, is a public housing complex located in San Juan, Puerto Rico consisting of 417 housing units. It is under the management of the Puerto Rico Housing Authority (''Administración de Vivienda Pública'' in Spanish) and is under the federal housing program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It was named after the famous Spaniard Roman Catholic Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas, who also has a town named after him in Mexico, namely San Cristóbal de las Casas. The Complex is located in an area that was used by the United States military beginning in 1908, as a training camp for the Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry that saw action in World War I and World War II. Air Caribbean Flight 309 was a domestic, non-scheduled airline flight by Puerto Rican airline Air Caribbean, which on September 26, 1978, crashed as it was preparing to land at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (then known, unofficially, as Isla Verde International Airport) in San Juan, after a flight from Ramey Air Force Base (what is now known as Rafael Hernandez Airport) in Aguadilla, killing all six occupants of the aircraft and injuring several customers of a Barrio Obrero bar over which the airplane fell. Flight Air Caribbean flight 309 took off from Aguadilla airport and had an uneventful flight for about 25 minutes before it got to San Juan. Residencial Luis Lloréns Torres, also commonly known as Lloréns Torres, is a public housing complex in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is located a few minutes driving distance from both the tourist and hotels areas of the Condado and Isla Verde neighborhoods, and from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. It is also minutes away from the neighboring city of Carolina. Named after Puerto Rican independence advocate Luis Lloréns Torres, the complex is the largest housing and apartments complex in Puerto Rico, with some 2,600 residents accounted during the 2000 census. Salsa Music
Salsa music is a style of Latin American music. Because most of the basic musical components predate the labeling of salsa, there have been many controversies regarding its origin. Most songs considered as salsa are primarily based on son montuno, with elements of Mambo (music), mambo, Latin jazz, Bomba (Puerto Rico), bomba, plena and guaracha. Obrero (often called Barrio Obrero) is one of 40 subbarrios of Santurce in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Obrero is the most populated subbarrio in Santurce. Air Caribbean was an airline that served from Isla Verde International Airport, in San Juan. The 1970s and 1980s were decades when several Puerto Rican airlines existed and competed against each other, including Prinair, Vieques Air Link and Dorado Wings. Believing a share of the market profits could be gained, Air Caribbean was created in 1975. There was one thread in common between Puerto Rican airlines of the time: Since at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport they would face tough, jet competition from major airlines (such as American, Air France, British Caledonian, Delta, Eastern, Iberia, Lufthansa, Mexicana and Pan Am, to name a few) shall they try to offer jet services to further away cities, they would have faced economical problems.
