Repulse Bay Beach
Repulse Bay Beach is a gazetted beach located in Repulse Bay, Southern District, Hong Kong. The beach has barbecue pits and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. Rated Grade 1 by the Environmental Protection Department for its water quality, the beach is about 292 metres long with views of Middle Island. There is an adjacent shrine ( Kwun Yam Shrine) and shopping centre ( The Pulse). History On 1 July 1999, Sau-kwan, a 14-year-old schoolboy, drowned while swimming near the beach. He was rescued by lifeguards and was taken by an ambulance to Tang Shiu Kin Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Repulse Bay
Repulse Bay or Tsin Shui Wan is a bay in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, located in the Southern District, Hong Kong. It is one of the most expensive residential areas in the world. Geography Repulse Bay is located in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, to the east of Deep Water Bay and to the west of Middle Bay and South Bay. Middle Island is located off Hong Kong Island, between Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay. History The origins of the bay's English name have become extremely obscure. There are, however, many stories — none resting on any solid evidence that has so far been established. A typical example is that in 1841, the bay was used as a base by pirates and caused serious concern to foreign merchant ships trading with China. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), is a department in the Government of Hong Kong. It reports to the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, headed by the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Pulse is a six-storey, shopping centre located on Beach Road at Repulse Bay Beach in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong. It is owned by Emperor International Holdings Limited. History Former use The site was formerly home to the Lido Complex. Developed by Lido Development (a subsidiary of the Fung Ping Fan company) and opened on 1 February 1976, the complex was marketed as a "year-round resort" and housed restaurants and recreational facilities. Tang Shiu Kin Hospital
Tang Shiu Kin Hospital () is a community hospital on Morrison Hill in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It was opened in 1969 to replace the Eastern Public Dispensary and other clinics on Hong Kong Island. The hospital merged administratively and operationally with Ruttonjee Hospital in 1998 to form one hospital and is a critical centre for emergency and vehicular accidents. Both names are kept.
