Tang Shiu Kin Hospital
Tang Shiu Kin Hospital () is a community hospital on Morrison Hill in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It was opened in 1969 to replace the Eastern Public Dispensary and other clinics on Hong Kong Island. The hospital merged administratively and operationally with Ruttonjee Hospital in 1998 to form one hospital and is a critical centre for emergency and vehicular accidents. Both names are kept. It was named after its benefactor, the late Sir Tang Shiu-kin, Kt, C.B.E., LL.D. O.S.T. (Japan), J.P., KStJ, a famous Hong Kong philanthropist. The Hong Kong Government and the Hospital Authority had approved a project to remodel the Tang Shiu Kin Hospital into a community ambulatory care centre. Hospital Authority
The Hospital Authority is a statutory body managing all the government hospitals and institutes in Hong Kong. It is under the governance of its board and is under the monitor of the Secretary for Food and Health of the Hong Kong Government. Its chairman is Henry Fan. History Before the establishment of the authority, all health and medical issues were under the management of the Medical and Health Department. In 1990, a new health administration system was introduced as part of the 1989 reforms. The establishment of the Authority served to rebuild state capacity amid the emergence of party politics in Hong Kong. William Peel (colonial Administrator)
Sir William Peel (; 27 February 1875 – 24 February 1945) was a British colonial administrator who served as Governor of Hong Kong. Early life Peel was born in Hexham, Northumberland, England. He was the son of Rev. W. E. Peel of Boston Spa in Yorkshire. He attended Silcoates School and later Queens' College, Cambridge. Early Colonial Services He became a cadet in the Colonial Service in British Malaya in 1897 and was soon promoted to Acting District Officer of Nibong Tebal in 1898 and Bukit Mertajam in 1899 and Province Wellesley until 1901. Wan Chai () is a List of MTR stations, station on the of the Hong Kong MTR. The livery colour is lime green. It serves the Wan Chai locality within the district of the same name. The station platforms are located underneath Hennessy Road, a major trunk road connecting the Central and Western District, Central and Eastern District, Hong Kong, Eastern districts. Sir Shiu-kin Tang CBE, KStJ, JP (; 21 March 1901 – 19 June 1986) was a Hong Kong entrepreneur and philanthropist. In 1933, he co-founded Kowloon Motor Bus and is known through the public service institutions he funded and founded in Hong Kong, many of which bear his name. He served as chairman of both Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Po Leung Kuk. Early life and the Battle of Hong Kong Tang was born in Hong Kong into a wealthy family.
