René Vigliani
René Vigliani (24 July 1929 – 30 October 2022) was a French football referee. Career Vigliani was member of FIFA from 1967 to 1978, and refereed 7 international matches. He officiated 2 matches in Euro 1976 qualifying and 5 friendly matches. He also refereed a match in the 1978 U21 Euro. In club football, Vigliani officiated some UEFA competition matches for a total of 1 Champions League game, 12 UEFA Cup games, and 3 Cup Winners' Cup games. He refereed 259 French Division 1 matches from 1965 to 1980, and also officiated the 1971 Coupe de France Final. Controversies There were two notable controversial decisions made by Vigliani during his career; one was in the first leg of the 1975–76 UEFA Cup quarter-final match-up between AC Milan and Club Brugge, which Milan won 2–1. Arles
Arles (, , ; oc, label= Provençal, Arle ; Classical la, Arelate) is a coastal city and commune in the South of France, a subprefecture in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, in the former province of Provence. UEFA Cup Winners' Cup
The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Ligue 1, officially known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, is a French professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the French football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Administrated by the Ligue de Football Professionnel, Ligue 1 is contested by 20 clubs and operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Ligue 2. Seasons run from August to May. Clubs play two matches against each of the other teams in the league – one home and one away – totalling to 38 matches over the course of the season.
