''Renascent Misanthropy'' Is the debut album for Australian Black Metal band Astriaal. Background ''Renascent Misanthropy'' contained a mix of new unreleased recordings, and some new recordings of songs previously found on various demo's and EP's. Lachlan Mitchell of Nazxul fame was hired as a producer and engineer for the album, as well as providing synthesizers for some of the album's tracks. Originally released in jewel case by Gryphon's Blacktalon Media Label, with various re-releases by Aftermath Music and Obsidian records. The latter included a CD-ROM featuring a live video of Arborescence and a photo gallery. A vinyl pressing was released in June 2012 by Art of Propaganda and limited to 300 copies. Astriaal are an Australian black metal band that formed in 1998, and are one of Australia's highest-profile black metal bands. The band have so far released 2 full-length albums and 3 EPs, and have supported well-known international acts such as Mayhem, Arcturus, Suffocation, Nile, Deeds of Flesh, Opeth and Pungent Stench. Astriaal's lyrics deal with Abyssal Theology, Nature and Misanthropy. History The band was formed in 1997 as a three-piece consisting of Baaruhl, Gryphon, and Helthor. Baaruhl performed vocal duties early on until Arzarkhel joined the band. Astriaal released their debut demo ''Glories of the Nightsky'' in October 1998. Lachlan Mitchell (record Producer)
Lachlan Mitchell is an Australian record producer, engineer, mixer and musician. He works at Jungle Studios in Leichhardt and Attic Studios in the Studios 301 complex in Sydney. Mitchell has worked with musicians across the spectrum, from indie rock through to black metal. Biography Mitchell was born in London and raised in Sydney, Australia. After graduating from audio engineering at AFTRS he worked as an assistant engineer at London’s Air Studios under the management of Beatles producer George Martin. There he assisted on albums for musicians including Nik Kershaw, Phil Collins, John Martyn and Johnny Diesel.
