''The Remains'' is the debut album by the American garage rock band the Remains, and was released on Epic Records in September 1966. Though the album was largely overlooked at the time of its original release, ''The Remains'' has since received recognition as one of the more cohesive efforts of the era. Background The Remains formed in 1964, quickly establishing themselves as a popular attraction across New England, and performing in sold-out venues to a loyal fanbase. By 1965, the group's popularity reached an apex, with the Remains earning four regional hits on Epic Records, and appearing on ''The Ed Sullivan Show''. Prior to recording their debut album the band's manager John Kurland arranged an audition with Capitol Records on May 26, 1966. The Remains (sometimes referred to as "Barry and the Remains") were a mid-1960s American garage rock group from Boston, Massachusetts, led by Barry Tashian. Although the Remains never achieved national success, they were very popular in New England, and were one of the opening acts on the Beatles' final US tour in 1966. The Remains broke up in 1966, but their music eventually attracted a strong international cult following. They began performing and recording again in the late 1990s, and have continued to play regularly since then. Career, 1960s The Remains formed in 1964 at Boston University, where all four members were first-year students living in the same dorm in Kenmore Square. ''Remains'', also billed as ''Steve Niles' Remains'', is a 2011 post-apocalyptic horror film. It depicts a small group of people in a Reno, Nevada casino who have survived a nuclear disaster while the rest of humanity has been turned into flesh eating zombies. It was produced by the Chiller Network and is based on the comic book series of the same name. Plot Tom (Grant Bowler) and Tori ( Evalena Marie) are employees at the fictional Silver Star Casino in Reno. On a slow day at the tables, Tom convinces Tori to join him in a stock room for a sexual encounter. At the same time a news report is airing about "Peace Day", a day when the entire world's supply of nuclear weapons is set to be destroyed. Something goes wrong during the event and a nuclear blast occurs, knocking out power to the casino and trapping Tom and Tori behind an electronic lock. ''Remains'' is a compilation album from Alkaline Trio. Contents The album is a collection of 22 tracks that the band has recorded for various compilations, EPs, B-sides and international releases. The track was co-written and produced by Maurissa and Jed specifically for inclusion in " Epitaph One," the unaired episode of Joss Whedon's sci-fi television series ''Dollhouse'', which Maurissa and Jed also wrote together. Song information During writing and production of "Epitaph One," the 13th unaired episode of ''Dollhouse'' (the television series for which Tancharoen and Whedon also write), the two writers felt that a piece of music was necessary over the coda of the episode, but due to budget concerns, they were unable to use a famous or popular song at the time. ''Remains'' is a rarities album by English band the Only Ones, released in 1984. This collection combines pre-Only Ones recordings from November 1975 with Only Ones demos, many from August 1976. Both sessions took place at Tooting Studios in South London. The 1975 titles — "Watch You Drown", "My Rejection", "Don't Hold Your Breath" and "I Only Wanna Be Your Friend" — also feature the talents of Glenn Tilbrook, Gordon Edwards, drummer Alan Platt, and John Perry playing bass. These demos pre-date the recording of the first Only Ones single, "Lovers of Today". Subsequent tracks all feature the regular Only Ones line-up. All instruments were performed by Jeff Waters following the dissolution of the previous line-up. The Ramainz were an American tribute band to the Ramones. Its members included Dee Dee Ramone, Marky Ramone, Dee Dee's wife Barbara Zampini, and C. J. Ramone. They were known as The Remains until 1999 but had to change the spelling due to another band already using the name.
