Remains (Alkaline Trio Album)
''Remains'' is a compilation album from Alkaline Trio. Contents The album is a collection of 22 tracks that the band has recorded for various compilations, EPs, B-sides and international releases. The disc also includes three new live tracks from a 2006 concert at Avalon in Los Angeles. Vocalist/guitarist, Matt Skiba describes the collection as "an unintentional sort of bookend for our career thus far." A DVD that includes 45 minutes of material, including all the band's videos from ''From Here to Infirmary'', ''Good Mourning'', and '' Crimson'', accompanies the disc. Included is exclusive B-roll and behind-the-scenes footage from the band's live shows. Release and reception On November 6, 2006, ''Remains'' was announced for release. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Following the release of the band's second album, '' Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' (2000), Porter left the band and was replaced by Mike Felumlee for its subsequent album, ''From Here to Infirmary'' (2001). Thick Records
Thick Records is a Chicago-based independent record label which actively operated from 1994 to 2007. It now exists as a catalog only label for its previous releases. History Thick was formed in 1994 by Detroit native Zak Einstein, who started the label when he re-located to Chicago after graduating from Michigan State University. Early releases include albums from Chicago ska-punkers The Blue Meanies, Alton, IL's Judge Nothing, Seattle's grunge rockers Truly featuring Robert Roth, Mark Pikerel, and Soundgarden's Hiro Yamamoto, and the Omaha-based Commander Venus, whose members included Conor Oberst, Tim Kasher, Matt Bowen and Todd Baechle. Blue Meanies singer Billy Spunke joined Einstein and signed multiple Chicago punk rock artists including The Tossers, The Arrivals, and The Methadones. ''No Division'' is the third full-length album by American post-hardcore band Hot Water Music. It was released by Some Records on August 10, 1999. Recording Hot Water Music's Jason Black stated of the recording: " n the last albumwe just didn't know what the hell we were doing. So this time around it was nice, we went to a studio and spent maybe two, two and a half weeks and really recorded an album, front to back. The album was produced by Walter Schreifels of Gorilla Biscuits fame. Hot Water Music is an American punk rock band formed in October 1994 and based in Gainesville, Florida. Since their formation, the group has consisted of Chuck Ragan and Chris Wollard on shared lead vocals and guitars, bass guitarist Jason Black, and drummer George Rebelo. Since 2017, the band has also included guitarist-vocalist Chris Cresswell. The band initially broke up in August 1998, but reformed by October 1998. Alkaline Trio / Hot Water Music is a split EP by Alkaline Trio and Hot Water Music , punk rock bands based in Chicago and Gainesville, Florida respectively. The EP was released on January 22, 2002, through Jade Tree. In addition to new material, the EP features each band performing cover versions of songs from the other band's catalogue: Alkaline Trio covered Hot Water Music's “Rooftops” (from ''No Division'') and Hot Water Music covered Alkaline Trio's “Radio” (from ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'') and “Bleeder” (from ''I Lied My Face Off''). It was the first release by Alkaline Trio with drummer Derek Grant who replaced previous drummer Mike Felumlee in July 2001. Both bands later re-released their songs from the EP on compilation albums, with the tracks by Alkaline Trio appearing on ''Remains'' in 2007 and the tracks by Hot Water Music appearing on '' Till the Wheels Fall Off'' in January 2008.
