Remains (Alkaline Trio Album)
''Remains'' is a compilation album from Alkaline Trio. Contents The album is a collection of 22 tracks that the band has recorded for various compilations, EPs, B-sides and international releases. The disc also includes three new live tracks from a 2006 concert at Avalon in Los Angeles. Vocalist/guitarist, Matt Skiba describes the collection as "an unintentional sort of bookend for our career thus far." A DVD that includes 45 minutes of material, including all the band's videos from ''From Here to Infirmary'', ''Good Mourning'', and '' Crimson'', accompanies the disc. Included is exclusive B-roll and behind-the-scenes footage from the band's live shows. Release and reception On November 6, 2006, ''Remains'' was announced for release. The band explained: "...in the midst of the torrent of recording albums and touring to support them -- we will book into a studio and record some more... Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Following the release of the band's second album, '' Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' (2000), Porter left the band and was replaced by Mike Felumlee for its subsequent album, ''From Here to Infirmary'' (2001). Backed by the singles " Stupid Kid" and "Private Eye", ''From Here to Infirmary'' significantly increased the band's exposure, and its follow-up, ''Good Mourning'' (2003), charted highly on the ''Billboard'' 200. ''Metal Hammer'' is a heavy metal music magazine and website founded in 1983, published in the United Kingdom by Future, with other language editions available in numerous other countries. ''Metal Hammer'' features news, reviews and long-form articles covering both major and underground bands in heavy metal, as well as covering rock, punk, grunge and other alternative music genres. Publication History Wilfried F. Rimensberger conceived ''Metal Hammer'' in 1983, taking the idea of a rock magazine publishing in different languages to Jürgen Wigginghaus, publisher of the German magazine ''MusikSzene'', where Rimensberger was chief editor. Wigginghaus helped launch the German edition of ''Metal Hammer'' soon after, while Rimensberger launched the flagship, English language version from London in November 1986, installing Harry Doherty, formerly of ''Melody Maker'', as editor.
