Meløy
Meløy is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Salten traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ørnes. Other villages include Eidbukta, Neverdal, Glomfjord, Halsa, Reipå, Støtt, and Ågskardet. The municipality is situated just to the north of the Arctic Circle on Norway's west coast. It encompasses the island of Meløya and some 700 other islands of various sizes around the Meløyfjorden, Glomfjorden, and Holandsfjorden in the south, along with a stretch of mainland coast. The municipality is the 133rd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Meløy is the 153rd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 6,214. Fore Church
Fore Church ( no, Fore kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Meløy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Reipå. It is one of the churches for the ''Fore og Meløy'' parish which is part of the Bodø domprosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in 1909 using plans drawn up by the architect O. M. Olsen. The church seats about 450 people. History The church was originally built in 1909 in a neo-gothic, long church style. It was consecrated on 17 June 1909. In 1932, the church was renovated and expanded by adding two transepts to give it a cruciform design. Norwegian County Road 17
County Road 17 ( no, Fylkesvei 17), also known as the Coastal Highway ( no, Kystriksveien), is a Norwegian highway that runs from the town of Bodø in Nordland county (in the north) to the town of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county (in the south). It is long and includes six ferry crossings. The road runs along the coast of Nordland and Trøndelag counties through 28 different municipalities. This road is a much more scenic, albeit longer and more time-consuming, route than the inland European Route E6 highway. Prior to 1 January 2010, this was National Road 17 ( no, Riksvei 17), but control and maintenance of the road was transferred to the counties from the national government on that date, so now it is a county road.
