Academy Of Theatre And Dance
The Academy of Theatre and Dance is a faculty of the Amsterdam University of the Arts which was known as ''de Theaterschool'' until September 2016. It runs four year Bachelor's degree courses in theatre and dance, and two year Master's degree courses offered by DAS Graduate School. The staff of instructors and guest instructors amounts to about sixty persons, nearly all also in active in the theatrical and dance field. The Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) is a Dutch conservatoire of music located in Amsterdam. Lotte De Beer
Lotte de Beer (born 11 August 1981) is a Dutch opera director. Biography Raised in Mheer in the Zuid-Limburg region of Limburg, de Beer studied singing and piano in her youth. She subsequently developed an interest in acting, and studied acting at the ''Toneelschool Maastricht''. She subsequently studied directing at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, from which she graduated in 2009. She was a prizewinner in the Ton Lutz Awards in 2009 for ''grooste regietalent'' (greatest directing talent), for her production of ''Hauptling Abendwind'' / ''Vent du Soir''. Her mentors have included Peter Konwitschny and Pierre Audi. In 2010, de Beer founded Operafront, an opera company based in Amsterdam focused on small-scale and experimental productions of opera, and became its first artistic director. Piet Zwart (; 28 May 1885 – 24 September 1977) was a Dutch photographer, typographer, and industrial designer. Biography Early life Piet Zwart was born on May 28, 1885 in Zaandijk. He trained as an architect, and began graphic design projects at age 36. His training as an architect included designing furniture and interiors. He was influenced by the De Stijl movement, which focused on the essentials of form, colour and line, but later moved to a more functional design aesthetic. In the early 1920s Zwart received his first typographic commissions from Laga, a flooring manufacturer. Zwart had no formal training in typography or printing, so he was uninhibited by the rules and methods of traditional professional practices. Zwart regarded typography as an important cultural force of the 20th-century.
