Reichsernährungsamt
The ''Kriegsernährungsamt'' (War Office of Food), which later became the ''Reichsernährungsamt'' (Reich Office of Food), was an entity of the government of the German Empire from 1916 to 1919. History During the First World War, the German Bundesrat enacted wartime measures to ensure the food supply of the population. As a result, the ''Kriegsernährungsamt'' was created on 22 May 1916. Max Johann Otto Adolf Tortilowicz von Batocki-Friebe, usually known as Adolf von Batocki-Friebe (31 July 1868 – 22 May 1944), was a German noble, lawyer and politician, and belonged to a noble Lithuanian family. The Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (german: Unabhängige Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, USPD) was a short-lived political party in Germany during the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. The organization was established in 1917 as the result of a split of anti-war members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), from the left of the party as well as the centre and the right.
